Check my SOTD below. Larry at Whipped Dog will help you out. My brush was drilled deeper at Larry's suggestion.

First, thanks to Jayaruh for telling me about this thread. Second, I'm still new at this, only DE shaving since April 2014. Third, this was only my second shave with an OC and my first with this NEW, which I found only yesterday at a antique store for $9. My other OC experience was with an Old Type which, while it resulted in a nice result, was a very uncomfortable shave. So today was my evaluation of the NEW more than anything.

    Soap: Prorasso Green
Brush: Whipped Dog Silver Tip w/Butterscotch handle
    Bowl: Pfaltzgraff ($3 from Walmart)
    Razor: Gillette NEW LC
    Blade: Astra Super Platinum
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

    upload_2014-10-5_11-21-38.jpeg

My setup is very simple as you can see. I normally shower first, but not today because I showered the night before after working in the yard all day. First impression of the NEW is it is very light. Second impression is that I need a bigger handle. I don't have big hands, but I do have long fingers. However, I found the razor quite maneuverable and it actually did a better job than most of my other razors in the trouble spots around my chin and on my neck. Final result, a couple of small nicks (one because of the light weight I almost dropped the razor) and the face a tiny bit irritated, but I'll chalk that up to being unfamiliar with the razor. Overall, a very, very close shave. Gonna have to give this one another try.

Shave of the day, OCtober 5

Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog face wash

    Soap/cream- Barrister & Mann Lime/lavender/cedarwood

    Brush- Omega 10810

    Razor- Gem micromatic open comb

    Blade- Gem stainless steel (6)(1)

Post- Cold water rinse, Old spice whitewater and Nivea aftershave balm

I thought I would use a Open Comb for OCtober. But not the whole month=P

I attempted a sixth shave with my first Gem blade ever. Apparently I can only go up to 5 shaves. It's no problem it means the 50 blades that are heading against me will provide 250 awesome shaves.

I had forgotten how awesome this razor is, WOW!! And also it's been a while since I used my Omega brush, I love this brush too. Even if it's one of the cheaper models, it is very nice!

I forgot to mention 2 very small nicks, but they went away with some water and one needed the styptic pencil =P but that's my fault haha

Welcome to SOTD. I'm using basically the same razor today. The handle is light making the razor head heavy. I grip the handle a little high and use a light touch. Nice picture.

Another really good shave with the Slim despite lather problems with Cella. I can only get a really slick lather for the first pass the 2nd and 3rd passes don't seem to have any cushion and leave my face really dry. I've got C.O. Bigelow
Down now trying to figure this one out.

    Prep: Shower, Nivea Face Wash
    Cream: Cella
    Blade: Lab Blue (1)
    Razor: Gillette Slim J2 (3)
Post: Alum, T.N. Dickison With Hazel
AfterShave: Aqua Velva, Nivea post balm

    OC OCtober

    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: Aristocrat TTO Open Comb
    Blade: BIC platinum (day 3)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Cream: Trumper Rose
    Passes: 2(WTG, XTG)
    Post: Witch Hazel

Bad shave today, BBS but bad. It started out good, Lathering up the Trumper Rose went well enough, it started on the dry side but that was easy to fix. I didn't notice any problems with the first pass, but once I was done and re-wet my face, lots of sting. Lathering up for the second pass didn't feel that great either. Again I could not feel anything unpleasant with the actual shave, but did end up with a couple nicks.
I do have to say the Trumper Rose is aptly named!

Frankenpuck shaving soap, small bits of left over Arko, VDH Deluxe and Williams
    Omega Pro 48
    Gillette Slim, set on 6
    Astra SP, 1
    Pinaud Clubman

Soap seemed to dry out faster than expected, solved by re-lathering half way through the shave.

    Sunday:
hot shower w/T&H Trafalgar bar soap
    ShaveSecret PSO
Griffon XX 60 Carbo Magnetic straight 1 pass
    Schick J1 1 pass
    Schick (5)
    Long Handled boar
    DeVergulde Hand Extra Fris soap
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    T&H Trafalgar AS

Same razors as yesterday but I only needed one pass each to get me out the door.
A new old brush that I picked up last weekend and sanitized yesterday. I've picked up a couple other long handled boars but this is the first one I've cleaned up to use. There's no markings on it so I guess I need to come up with a name for it. The DeVergulde did a fine job of quickly covering the smell of vinegar still strong from yesterday's cleaning and it performed quite well so I'm sure I'll be using it on a regular basis especially when I reach for my deep cappuccino mug which I normally use with creams and end up with soap up the knuckles with my shorter brushes.

Not the best shave today the edge was off. The end of my Cella, great performer but I tire of the scent quickly. Have a good one.
