I love the way my Turkish horsehair brush slams the lather into my face and neck and makes it so rich and thick. I love how the Tet-a-tet cream and aftershave balsam smell, and how cooling they are both during and after a shave. The Osage Rub makes sure that you don't sweat on a hot day like it's going to be today! ;) :D

Razor: 69 Gillette Super Adjustable “Black Beauty” (Gold) O4 (set on 9)
    Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (7)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Bowl: Gravy Boat Scuttle
Soap: Prairie Creations Walters Shave Soap
A/S: Alum & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Pinaud Clubman

I tried out a new soap that I won in a PIF from Prairie Creations. Krissy calls it Walters Shaving Soap; it is a recreation of the vintage Williams soap. And it is awesome; I was quickly able to develop a dense, rich, and very slick lather. I love this soap! I got a near BBS with this soap and the Voskhod blade day seven, only one tiny rough spot under my chin. I also broke out my ’69 Black Beauty, I got this from my father-in-law, and I have been reluctant to use it because it is gold. In the past if I use or handle anything plated in gold wears off and starts looking tarnished. This razor is in near mint condition and I want to keep it that way. It has a lot of sentimental value because of its history, my wife used learned how to shave using this razor, and now it belongs to me.

FaTip Grande today! Carefully used, but it was much simpler than last time. Suppose my technique is getting far better.

Love the Cade. The fragrance is lovely. Usually I use the same balm but today felt like some Old Spice.

Comfortable and nice shave today. Should be a great day.

    Friday:
    soak brush/Omega Mighty Midget/Ayars Bowl
    warm shower
    Proraso PrePost cream
Herbs Of Bulgaria Lavender shave cream
    Gillette Slim set @ 9/Polsilver SI (2)
    cold water rinse
    Monster Block Alum
    cold water rinse
    Thayer's Original WH
Herbs Of Bulgaria Lavender aftershave mixed with a small amount of 444

Wow I can see why the Mighty Midget is much loved, all I did to break it in was wash it in some mild detergent and a good rinse.Already it's lathering up a storm,I had enough lather for my usual 2 pass face,1 pass head shave, and I prolly could have done another pass if I needed it.No doubt the Herbs Of Bulgaria Lavender sc helped,it was my first use with the shave cream, brush, and aftershave. The aftershave has a nice natural scent that is not overpowering yet for a lavender has so far a great hang time.I applied the splash at around 7:30 am it's now 10 am and it's still going strong.Great stuff :D

Started the day with a hot shower..
After a great shower, facial prep with Prairie Creations pre-shave soap.
Next in the brush line-up was the Vulfix 28 boar. The Vulfix lathered up Yardley Gold shave cream, with total ease.
Continuing with Adjustable Theme Week, razor choice for the week a Fat Boy. Day two for the Persona Red.
Three passes first two dialed to #6, the last pass dialed down #4.
Cold splash, alum, to finish up TSD Lime Coconut Verbona.
As close to near perfect DFS as one could achieve.

Woke up later than usual, so...

    The Wife's Gillette Pro-Glide
    bath soap

Yes, plain old bath soap, repeatedly slathered on my wet face without a brush or anything.

Result: Three pass BBS, zero nicks or irritation. As smooth as any DE/SE/injector shave I've ever had, but then it consistently is so. I guess I'm one of those lucky few whose faces don't get mangled by multiblade cartridges (well, excluding the Sensor). And I think she said it's an older cart, even. However, it was only one day's worth of growth, so that's a factor.

So this weekend I'm intrigued enough to go in experimenter mode again and will check out Dollar General's version of the Pro-Glide cartridge, and maybe the Schick Hydro, which I've heard some good about.

As Spock said, "There are always alternatives."

Oh yes...a/s - Aqua Velva Musk cut with Avon Leather a/s. Surprisingly little sting, the shave was so smooth.

So I tried a cold water shave today. Worked out pretty well. I used Pacific pre-shave oil to soften after some cold splashes. Then I used my boar brush I've all but abandoned to whip up some Proraso after a cold water soak. I used my Merkur HD with a Rapira for 3 freezing passes. Finished it all off with some Aqua Velva for a DFS. I may experiment more with this cold water shaving thing before winter hits.

Pre shave: Hot shower, Proraso pre/post.
    Razor: Schick Krona
    Blade: Feather (first time use)
    Brush: Semogue 1305.
Cream: La Toja Sensitive (first time use)
Post Shave: Cold water rinse, alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel Rose Petal, Proraso Pre/Post Cream.

La Toja is a great cream. The scent is very pleasant, it's a lather monster, it's pretty slick, and it's very moisturizing. I strongly suggest this to anyone and will probably buy another tube when this one is done.
