    Saturday's birthday shave.

Iwanted to celebrate the friendship I found over here so I used only things I found via TSD (sorry I couldn't include all!):
    Brush: Omega trevel boar
    Soap: vintage Wiliams
Razor: Valet autostrop w/ Feather blade

Accompanied by some Jazz by the Englishman Sammy Rymington I had a wonderful shave which was the start of a equally wonderful day!
    SoS 2012-09-08.jpg

    Sunday:
Used two of my birthday presents:

    mug of Tabac soap
Wilkinson Sword pure badger brush (gosh, that's soft! - I only experienced boar and boar/badger mixture until today!)

Accompanied by the Gilette Old Style OC loaded with a vintage Punktal blade (#3) I attained a DFS++. I'll have to get used to the badger brush. It holds so much water! The lather was therefore a bit too wet for good measure.

    Have fun today!

Because my dear friend Dmitry gave me so much inspiration to use my Dovo Bismarck again, I decided to name this shaving day in honor of him. It was he who sent me this great shaving soap which lathers so beautifully and has such a nice scent and great skincare, and the great Tet-a-tet stuff which I love so much. My wife could not believe how BBS I got - she said "sweetie, that's better than a barber could shave you!" I think it took me almost 45 minutes to do it between the hot towels and other pre-shave preparations like the facial massage I give myself to feel relaxed before I begin lathering up. I started with a WTG pass everywhere, and then my second pass was WTG again, and finally I rinsed off, relathered again and I did a slow, light ATG pass which ensured a table-top smoothness that I haven't had all week. Afterwards, a cold water rinse, a little Tet-a-tet balsam, and a good splash of Barbon completed the most wonderful shave I've had in a long time! ;) :D

Sunday night here, what a great weekend.

Haven't had a shave since Thursday evening, so the three day growth was coarse & ready to test out the Personna Platinum's (Red) 2nd shave :D

    Pre Shave: Hot shower
Shave Mug: Old Spice 60's (will research the Belguim markings soon)
Shave cream: Prorasso Red (Sandalwood & Shea Butter)
    Brush: Men'sBiz Super Badger
    Razor: Merkur 34C
    Blade: Personna Red (2)
    Post Shave: Cold water rinse

3 passes: WTG / XTG / ATG with the smallest touch up under the nose for a DFS.

The Personna Red showed no signs of grabbing at all. Will try it again Tuesday.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

    Sunday:
    soak brush/Semogue 620/DB Brush Scuttle
    warm shower
    Proraso PrePost cream
    Cella ss (face lathered)
Cobra Classic "The Snake"/Feather ProGuard (9)
    cold water rinse
    Monster Block Alum
    cold water rinse
    Thayer's Original WH
Lucido splash followed a few minutes later with Kiehl's Aftershave Balm

I gave my dome a day off and just did a 2 pass shave,The Snake delivered a great BBS shave. My first application of Lucido aftershave, very interesting the scent reminds me of Osage Rub and there is a faint soothing hit of menthol. The scent is gone almost immediately,I put this in almost the same league as the Pitralons, very soothing and great skin conditioning, but without the scent that the Pitralons have. The Kiehl's aftershave balm is another winner, very little goes a long way, also very little to no scent. Both are great if you are looking to use a edt or cologne and want no aftershave clash,or you just want the benefits of a good splash and balm without the scent.

Pre shave - Hot Towel, Palmolive Shave Stick
    Razor - Weber ARC
    Blade - Astra S/S
Brush - New Forest Tubby 1 Finest
    Soap - RazoRock Mudder Focker
Cold Rinse/ Witch Hazel/ RazoRock Aftershave Wax

The N/F Finest is a tidy little brush, especially with the Mudder Focker... but my face is suffering...maybe the S/S is a little too aggressive for the Weber.. I think the S/P is more suited to it. :-/

Very nice shave this morning. I always think TOBS SS doesn't get the respect it deserves. Maybe it's one of the YMMV things but it performs marvelous for me. Have a good one, I have a few more handles to turn.

Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash with Noxzema Triple Clean, cold shower
Razor: Gillette Fat Handle Short Comb NEW
Blade: SuperMax Sunrise Super Stainless (2)
    Brush: Semogue 620 Boar
    Cream: Domino's
    AS: British Sterling
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Splash Of Aftershave

I used the Fat Handle from the Tech paired to the Short Comb New. The SuperMax Sunrise blades have become a favorite, they are very sharp, smooth and provide a tug free BBS.

The Domino cream provides such slickness and cushion I think everyone should give it a try. At only $6.00 per tube you would be surprised at how well this cream performs.

A great Sunday shave, not much different than yesterday's shave with the Tech as the results are exactly the same, a BBS.

The morning start at 6:15, by 6:30 I was in the shower.
Today's brush choice the LuJin badger was warming up.
After a great shower I scrubbed my face with Prairie Creations pre-shave soap
Chose a French soap today Savon Le a Barbe "Bay & Sweet Orange. Within minutes the bathroom was filled with a sweet aroma.
Last day for Adjustable Theme Week personally it has a been a great week. I have learned how to shave with my Fat Boy, the shaves it has delivered have been superb.
I had used two different blades with the Fat Boy, Wilkinson and finishing with a Persona Red.
The first two passes were dialed to #6 and the third pass dialed down to #4
After a great shave, cold water splash, then used the last drops of Arko Aqua balm, then I applied Kramperts.
The shave was a superb near perfect DFS.

Hope the week ahead for everyone is great.

I'm really happy you got back to straights and really sorry for the soap, as it seems only the first piece was good, but others I bought later were total garbage :angry019:. Maybe I'll give a second chance to Russian hand-made soaps later. Jeff, what kind of strop and hone do you use for your straight razor maintenance? And it seem you have a rich experience to use a straight also, like you shaved with a straight and then converted to DE?

Dmitry, I use an American-made 3 inch Extra Wide Mountain Strop like this one. For honing, my barber does that for me. I used a DE long before I started to use a straight. I wish I had the extra time every morning to use it, but unfortunately I don't. Here is my kind of strop.

A nice strop! Do you use pastes or just strop on clear linen?
I found that the stubble grows slower when I shave with a straight. Cannot explain that. So I just shave before bed every day. Of cause I have a noticeable 'shadows' to 16-17 o'clock next day but anyway I HAVE to shave before bed, or I fail to pass face-control ;). So I switched to evening shaving and I'm glad I did!

I use pastes as well. I have a very fast-growing beard stubble which is also very dark in color, although it is starting to become gray. After a straight razor shave, my stubble cannot be seen, however when I shave with a DE, it sometimes can unless I do something like 4 passes!
