Personna Magic Razor w/ Voskhod (2) Gillette Super Adjustable @ 9 w/ Voskhod (3) EJ Best Badger AOS Lavender PreShave Oil T&H Lavender Shave Cream Dickinson Witch Hazel Neutrogena AS Balm Another very close shave, but oh at what cost! For the first time in a long long time I feel genuinely razor burned. All over my face. Maybe it's the cumulative effect of using the DEstraight for almost a week in a row, maybe I just went a little overboard today. Either way...yeowch. No aftershave for me. Just gobs and gobs of AS Balm. On a side note - This brush will not stop shedding! I can't use it without losing 3 hairs. It's a great brush otherwise, but it might not be for very long, there's not going to be anything left.

Wednesday, September 07, 2011 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: Jaggerooney Blade: Voskhod Teflon Brush: Vie-Long Gonzalo Soap or Cream: Klar Kabinett Soap A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel, 4711 Splash I always anticipate a nice shave when Klar Kabinett comes up in the rotation. This anticipation was entirely justified this morning--the Vie-Long whipped up an excellent lather, and the shave was smooth, BBS, and very comfortable. To finish off the shave, I decided to use another German product, the 4711, with a very pleasant result.

Wednesday, September 7, 2011 Prep: Hot shower, California Baby face wash, hand strop blade Lather: C.O. Bigelow Brush: Frank Shaving Finest Razor: Gem MM Clog Pruf Blade: Walgreen's Gem (2), 2 passes Post: WH, Aqua-Velva Ice Blue, hand strop blade My skilled use of the OCMM led to a cocky shave with the Clog Pruf today. While the CP is definitely milder than the OCMM, it can still bite you. I thought about not shaving today since I was still pretty smooth from yesterday's shave, but decided the CP should be mild enough. Perhaps I should have gone with the Featherweight. Some slight irritation but nothing that the Velva liquid medicine couldn't comfort!

Wednesday Razor: Sprock 6/8 Brush: Simpson 57 Cream: Trumpers Sandalwood Post: Alum rub, Jovan Musk (in atomiser) It is my 1st using a Simpson brush and, as I had been assured, now I see what all the fuss is about. I will need to learn it a bit better as it performs differently than my NF and Vulfix, but the face feel and backbone are superb. The Sprock as ever performed faultlessly, it makes me wonder why I ever bother with another razor but then again using others put into perspective how good it really is.
The same Gillette Platinum blade I've been testing since Monday went into my Slim set to 9 this morning. I used a Simpson Special Best badger and Vitos for lather, and since it's cool in Maine today I finished up with my handcrafted Bay Rum. It was a great shave and an easy BBS. I love my aggressive razors! For those keeping tabs on this blade, it lacked something in the Tech, so it's not a keeper for me. It was good in the Black handle and really good today in the Slim. But since it isn't good in all 3 I won't be buying any. I won't post anymore about it until the blade either gives 7 good shaves (Sunday) or it's spent and I trash it. The soap and brush will change, the razor set to 9 will stay the same.

I had a very bad experience this morning. I loaded a brand new blade in my Slim. While shaving, I discovered that only one side of the new double edged blade was sharp. The other side was so dull I could run my finger across it and not get cut. Someone, obviously, was asleep at the quality control desk. Once I figured out what was going on, I just used the sharp side. Into the blade bank that blade goes.
