    Razor: Merkur Long Handled Progress
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Vulfix 2006 Pure Badger
    Soap: Honeybee Spa Coconut
A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Pashana American Bay Rum Splash

This was my second shave in my personal Glycerin Soap Week, and it was a nice one. Although I am biased toward bowl lathering anyway, I think bowl lathering is especially useful with glycerin soaps. They seem to require more water, which is easier to control with bowl lathering. Others may disagree, of course. Anyway, the bowl lathering method produced plenty of creamy lather which didn't dry out prematurely on my face. The Pashana American Bay Rum splash was an excellent finish.

    Lazy monday

I'm getting a cold so I thought a shave might cheer me up. This is from yesterday sept 6th

    Goofy cup full of coffee
    parker 96r
Astra Platinum blade - day 1 (thanks steve!)
    The Dridecker
TSD sample - old spice fresh lime
    witch hazel
    TSD alum block
    Niva sensitive balm
3 passes WTG, XTG ear to nose, ATG

The lime woke me up and cleared my sinuses for a bit. The astra blade worked fine but I was not as WOWed with it as I am with the 301s.

    4 out of 5 blades

3 passes BBS. I've played with 3 pass straight shaves for the last few days and come to the conclusion that the 3rd pass is just for fun, I don't seem to be picking up many whiskers as most of them are gone by the first two passes (N-S, and S-N). Although the 3 pass shave, does without exception deliver a glass smooth shave, I really do believe that two full passes and a touch up of several trouble spots would do an equally impressive job. That said, with the full 3 pass shaves, I do notice that 24+ hours later I can barely feel stubble.

Agua Lavanda is supposed to have been a favorite of Sinatra. Makes a really nice combo with the TSD AS and not at all expensive.
I'm a bit disappointed with the longevity of the Gillette Super Platinum. After the first pass it was clear this blade was done. Lots of tug, pull and skip today. I did finesse a BBS but I'm amazed I did. 4.0

Gillette 1952 Steel Model 'Black Tip' Super Speed
    Astra Stainless-Blue Pack (Day2)
    Arko-Nem Soft Lotion, moisturizer
    Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT

A quick 1 pass and it would be a solid BBS if I could have done a touch-up under my chin...But still a 5 Star shave...Unbelievable, I was so interrupted, and rushed...a testament to how great this razor is...:happy108

I'm going on a short 5 day tour of concerts...so I was thinking of taking my '65 Adjustable in case my blades get taken at an airport, whatever blades I can pick-up can be made to work...Then this morning I realized I didn't really need to shave I got such a close shave with the Ming-Shi yesterday...So now I'm thinking I'll just take the M-S and "check" my bag...Then late this afternoon I did need a shave, and as I reach for the M-S, I moved the blade to the Super Speed, just cause the Black Tip is so much fun, darn it...And then everything goes nuts at my house and I have to grab the shave in record time, and the SS showed how it got its name...Probably the smoothest and most comfortable 1 Pass, High Speed BBS I've ever gotten... Hands Down...I'm taking the Super-Speed...Cause whatever happens, I know I can count on it to deliever...And oh yeah...also because its just so much fun...

Shave Of The Day - September 7th

    • Hot Shower
    • Wilkinson Sword Tech 3
    • Wilkinson Sword Tech 3 Blade - Day 1
    • Dr Dulcamara's Brushless Sandalwood Shaving Cream
    • Lea Aftershave Balsam
    • [IMG]

I have supplied my darling wife with many wetshaving tools to use, from her own Lady Eversharp and LHSA, to her own brush and creams.

She has always preferred a Quattro to shave with but in the interest of economy, we picked her up the new Wilkinson Sword Tech 3 from Wal-Mart, and after using it has declared it a winner for her. After seeing the discussion around here talking about it, I decided to load the razor up with a new blade and have a go at it.

While I was going the more modern wetshaving route, and seeing as I have never used a brushless cream, I decided to use the Dr Dulcamara's Brushless Cream that was gifted to me a while back.

Absolutely horrid shave! Two passes and tried to do some touchup and I still feel like I haven't shaved at all, with whiskers everywhere, but I do have some irritation to show for it. The brushless cream smelled nice, and felt slick to the fingers, but it seemed to be slimy and stringy as I shaved and rinsed the razor.

I'll give it 1.5 blades since I didn't have any blood loss from the shave, and it was faster, but it definitely wasn't nicer.

Just out of the shower and shaved.

Proraso Green Tea & Aloe shaving cream
Muehle Fine Badger Frosted Acrylic shaving brush
    Merkur 34C / NOS Gillette Platinum-Plus blade @ day 4
    Florena Sensitive after shave balm

Used a scuttle just to see how my new brush will perform. And it performed outstanding. Stiff, soft. It's big and heavy. Maybe too big for face-lathering, but I like it. Bit floppy, but not as much to say it's a paint brush. It's still stiff. I'm satisfied with the buy :) Seems like NOS Gillette blade gets dull faster in my Merkur HD than in Super Speed. Perhaps, it has more work here.

Great shave, just a touch up was all that was really required after a completely off the chain BBS shave yesterday. Haven't used this AS/Cologne stack for a while. Neither goes on really nice but both seem to dry down to a really clean powdery floral kind of scent that is very nice indeed.
