    Happy Friday From Florida!

    Hot Shower
    RAB Scuttle
    TGN Synthetic Re-Knot
    C&E Sienna Soap
    Schick Injector I-2
    Personna Blade (1)
    Cold Water Rag
    Booster's Oriental Spice A/S

6 Passes (yes, really, 6) = DFS. I don't know what the deal is here, maybe I got a bum blade?

I did not shave yesterday so I had some serious growth to contend with. I swear that since I started wet shaving my whiskers have underwent some kind of metamorphosis and turned into steel wool. After the fourth pass, I was still scruffy so went with a fifth and a sixth. I quit at six in hopes of dodging the razor burn, but I could have gone with another pass and touch ups for a BBS.

Razor: Merkur Long Handled Classic (23C)
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L
Soap: Honeybee Spa Cherry Pipe Tobacco
A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Pashana American Classic Bay Rum

While I generally prefer the more "classic" scents (lavender, sandalwood, etc.) in shaving soaps, it's sometimes fun to inject a little whimsy into the shaving ritual. The CPT scent reminds me of the old pipe tobacco aisle that used to be a part of most drugstores. Scent aside, I did get one nick which was mostly my fault but, I think, also partly the soap's fault. In my experience, most glycerin soaps do not provide quite the cushion that most milled soaps offer. Because of that, extra care is needed and that's where I slipped up--I was letting my mind wander and the razor woke me up with a little bite.

Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Brut ASB, Brut AS

Not bad. A little burn. Think I was using a bit too much pressure. Love the scent of this soap.

2.5 stars-I think the blade is getting dull (probably my initial bad stropping technique as this was my first straight) and got a nice cut under right lip-I'm a lefty.

    Fri:

    Gem Micromatic
    Ted Pella Blade
    Iced Thing SC
    Rudy Vey Cucstom Finest Badger

Sometimes I'm just amazed at how well JoAnna's soaps work...

Using the $9.00 Shae Moisture Shave Brush, I did a quick 10-15 second load of the brush on the Monkey Farts soap, pumped and swirled the brush in my almost forgotten Dollar Tree Sundae Bowl while adding a touch of water, and ended up with enough thick, rich lather for at least 6+ passes!

The shave was very nice, but since I'm on shift I didn't try pushing for a super smooth shave, but did end up with a DFS one at that. :)

Knock off half a blade for not getting to use my Iced SubZero Pre-Shave Balm, and half a blade for the few remaining whiskers, and I'll very happily call it a 4 blade shave!

Truefitt&Hill Trafalgar shaving cream from Jeff the stingrayrock
    Muehle Fine Badger shaving brush
    Merkur 34C / Cerrus blade @ day 2
Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera after shave balm

Nice shave, although on the second and third passes I felt my razor tugging on skin like it was previously rubbed with alum block. Too much/little water? Looked like decent lather.

It's unreal, but Russia has such fantastic creams--this Everest is a pleasure in every way imagineable. It gives rich, creamy and stable lather with minimum effort, it smells classy and sporty, and the cooling effect is great. The Everest eau de cologne/aftershave balm is not only very mentholated, it gives a lot of skincare with the same lovely scent, but it doesn't interefere with an eau de toilette. ;) :D

The Frank Shaving Silvertip brush worked well with this soap, easily producing a boodle of nice lather. Oh, the rest of the shave was great too.

Yes, it does. And I have no doubt that the TSD soap play no little part in that, as well!

    3 Passes = 3 Blade Shave

I changed the blade in the razor to see if my shave from yesterday was due to a bad blade. The shave was really no better today, so I stopped at 3 passes instead of going for 6 like yesterday. Perhaps the Schick I-2 is just not as aggressive as I need a razor to be?

    Have a great day ya'll!

    Razor: Jaggerooney
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar
A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood Splash

A great shave this morning on the last day of my 6-day "Glycerin Fest". For some reason, the Ogallala lather seems to have more body and substance than many other glycerin based soaps. Did they slip some tallow into this stuff? Nah... Maybe I'm being unduly influenced by the intoxicating scent. I did not have A/S of the same scent, but the Bay Rum & Sandalwood filled in just fine and resulted in an excellent finish. However, I must order a bottle of the Ogallala BR, S&C--I do love the scent.
