Sunday, September 12, 2010 Razor: Merkur Long Handled Progress Blade: Astra Superior Platinum Brush: Grosvenor LE Super Soap: Tabac A/S: Generic Witch Hazel, Mr. Taylor Splash A wonderful Tabac (am I being redundant?) shave this morning. Good, good stuff! The Mr. Taylor splash--a favorite of mine--provided an excellent finish.
I must to again start with the Tabac sticks that I have! ) Our weather now begins to become more cool, so perhaps I can use less menthol.
Sunday, September 12th Razor: Apollo Mikron Blade: Super Iridium Pre-shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Brush: Simpson Ehsan Cream/Soap: D.R. Harris Marlborough Soap A/S: Klar Klassik Rasierwasser This morning was my maiden voyage with the Apollo Mikron. The Apollo is similar to the Merkur Progress but is balanced differently with more weight in the handle. The Mikron also appeared to be a bit more mild than the Progress (I used the Mikron on 3) and the cutting angle appeared to be shallower. As this was my 1st use of the Mikron, I have not mastered the ideal angle and my shave was good but not spectacular. I will be playing around with it more later in the week. The Klar Klassik Rasierwasser was a great finish.
An awesome BBS shave this morning. I prep my face with Johnson Baby Oil I lathered a Parker Badger Brush with Arko Shave Soap Stick. I shaved with a Conrad OC with a Dorco 301. I used Pinaud Vanilla splash followed with Canoe after shave Balm. An incredible shave with two passes.

MWF; once you get it, you got it! Happy Sunday From Steamy Florida! No Prep! OMG! :shocked003 Omega Boar 10015 MWF Gem Featherweight Gem Blue Star Blade (2) Cold Water Rag TSD Mojito ASM 3 Passes = Holy Cow! Whatta Shave! Hands down, the best SE shave EVER! I finally get MWF! WOW! MWF is meant for face lathering. Period. No. But's. And's. If's. MWF must be face lathered. Wet your brush, give it a shake, swirl your brush, around and around, and around, and around, until you have nothing but slippery, sloppy, wet sheepy goodness loaded up in the brush...but wait, no, you are not totally loaded up yet, so keep swirling, and swirling ,and swirling some more........then, swirl your brush around, and around, and around on your face....apply a few drops of water into the breech of the brush and then swirl, swirl, swirl, and paint, paint, paint the sheepy juicy goodness up and down and around and around on your face..make sure there really is only a thin, thin., very thin layer of white sheepy goodness on your face..you DO NOT want thick mounds of fluffy meringue on your face..just a thin yet thick layer of sheepy oiliness... and then shave... and repeat... and shave... and repeat... WOW! So, SWMBO and I watched Miami whoop up on Buffalo...then we went upstairs...she washed her hair in the sink and I once again found myself with my Old Spice Mug of MWF in my hand again building a lather of MWF... welp...if you are reading this, then you know the rest.... Have a great week ya'll!

Aaron - I've been using this stick once or twice a week for the last 4 months. At first I was leery of the price, but I have to say that I really like it. It has a nice subdued almond scent, whips up a nice slick lather, and leaves my skin feeling great. It's a good quality soap that's worth buying again. Dale
Sunday's Shave Hot Shower Hot Water Splash Arko Shave Stick Omega 10029 Baby-Pro Boar Gillette 1952 Steel Model 'Black Tip' Super Speed Astra SP (Day1) Arko-Nem Soft Lotion, moisturizer Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT I'm staying in a Super 5 star hotel in Antalya, with a huge marble sink counter in a bathroom that is bright but a shadow was falling on my face...I've got this great room to my self and as much time as I want to shave, so I move a lamp in from the hangin' out area next to the bedroom...take off the lampshade and now I can see every whisker... 3 passes later my face is diffenantly BABY'S BUTT SKIN...And I'm afraid the Superior Plats are smoother than the Stainlesses...The Blue Packs do give me good results, but I'm afraid I could tell them apart in a blind-fold test...The SP's give me quite a few of those, "Is there a blade in this razor" flashes...And I could have stopped after 2 passes, but I was having too much fun... All-in-All a very memorable shave where I can't keep my hands off my face afterwards...And the 'Black Tip' is still more fun than shaving is supposed to be...:happy108 And the Habit Rouge is still my favorite, and hands down my "Signature" scent...Oh what a wonderful morning....
Agreed!!! I have not found ANYTHING better than VDH Deluxe. And today I used Castle Forbes from a sample, which was excellent, but CF does NOT beat VDH Deluxe.
Razor: Merkur 38C Blade: Shark Super Chrome (3rd use) Brush: Omega Boar 10049 Soap: Castle Forbes Sandalwood ASB: Barclay Crocker Sandalwood EdT: Caron's Third Man
Yup, VDH Deluxe is the bomb. If you're into budget stuff that works, Arko Shavestick is another one not to miss. There are probably hundreds of soaps and creams that are more expensive but few can run with these two for sheer consistent performance and value for the money.
