I have to admit, I do not know how I feel about this yet. But its safe to say that I am pretty curious. But I do feel a disturbance in the force telling that they somehow are going to mess this up. Luckily I am only on book 76 in a 200 book trilogy I've got my Star Wars fix covered for a few more years
The series has survived Lucas' best attempts to destroy the series- episodes two and three, anyone? Jar Jar Binks? Ewoks? All those unnecessary additions to the original trilogy? Yes, they could mess it up, but from where I'm standing it looks like they can only continue to do as bad as Lucas. I'm hoping they choose to film Zahn's books.
I liked most of the additions...with the exception of the singer and the extra scene with Jabba the Hutt. It would be really hard to make three movies worse than the last three Star Wars movies Lucas made. although admittedly, number 3 wasn't too bad. You know they won't, but I agree that that would be awesome...and I would love to see "The Courtship of Princess Leia" made into a movie as well.
Yep, would be awesome if they did, but I doubt they will (at least not using the original actors). It's too close timeline wise. If they choose to follow any of the books, I have a feeling it'll be the Yuzaan Vong war.
What do you mean to0 close? They are finishing out the original planned story arc with movies 7,8 and 9. "Courtship" is like number 10 or 11 in the series.
That would be too much to hope for. Zahn's stories are great and IMO maybe even out do the original in some ways. One of his books has an amazing twist in the characters where a dark side sith lord is actually a good doing healer of some kind...
I don't think anybody wants to see the original actors (except maybe in cameo roles: see Fanboys). 7,8 and 9 start off where 6 left off, as far as I know. I don't think CGI is quite to the point where it could make Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and Mark Hamill look young again (if Disney could even afford to get them all back together again). I am looking forward to seeing a more mature Star Wars experience on the silver screen again. More lightsabers!2 Less podracing. And Grand Admiral Thrawn would be something to see.
I agree. I think it is realistic to hope for some Zahn inspired material, though, because his contributions have been so financially lucrative over the past 20+ years. Too right. And I can't listen to Mark Hamil anymore without hearing the Joker.
