I am unfamiliar with the tumbler. Does it sit in there for the whole week with the tumbler going non stop?

You are all most welcome, trust me here, I love working these razors, and I love doing stuff like this... The biggest problem is the uploading on my dial up, the razor stuff is too fun...

Yes it does, the media is in constant motion and keeps the razor floating in it...

One of the longest threads on SRP is the "Tumbler Experiment" when I came up with the idea... Here is a link but I warn you it is a book not a thread :happy102

An excellent tutorial complete with photos. Thanks for sharing. By the way...that is not a messy shop. Frequently mine makes yours look like an operating room.

Glen, can you tell us what the ratio is of compound or polish to the different medias? Thanks and really enjoying this thread.

Bob if you mean in the tumbler, it is very little..
The Walnut is 5 lbs of media and maybe 3 Tbsp of polish
the Corn Cob is lighter at 3 lbs the same amount of polish

You "load" polish about twice per year, all I really do is to go once around the tumbler like you would do syrup on a pancake, then let it spin for 1-2 hours to "load" it into the media...

I hope that answered your question...

    Hey Glen,

How do you sand inside of the stamp (Beste*Qualitat TUCKMAR Silberstahl - Solingen)?

Do you have any special "tricks" for this?

    Will: not really special tricks,,,

The buffers of course are "loose" enough to clean it right up.

But when you use sandpaper to polish a razor you can clean the jimps and the stamps before you ever really start polishing, with a Brass and/or a Steel bristle parts brush. you can get these at either Gun shops or Auto parts shops.. The Brass and/or Steel Dremel wheel accessories do a good job also..

This has to be done BEFORE you polish though...

    Update !!!!

Just keeping everyone updated... The razor went into the Corncob media yesterday and will continue to spin until the very last minute...

The voting ends tomorrow so I plan on cutting the actual material blanks after work...

    Wow! That's a amazing difference!

I voted for light wood. With contrasting multi layered spacer, it would look awesome.

    VERY cool idea, Six Gun!
