sol92258 I have no earthly idea

I read a line from a book before, I'll paraphrase:
if anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat

    CPR - NY style:

Shout at the person lying on the pavement:

    - Get up before you fucking die!

Kind of sums it up, I think

Absolutely true. Isn't it sad to see Bankers and CEO's with their hands out? They garnered respect in the not too distant past.

There will always be people that play the system no matter what system it is. I'd rather see my tax money go to those who need it.

That again is just silly. I know it is probably for under privileged kids but sheesh, They get breakfast and lunch at school..

That's not as bad as the $274 million for napkins and brooms to clean up the mess from the snacks

If you give their parents $600, they will probably not spend a cent on "afterschoolsnacks"...

That's where you and I differ, I don't mind paying for them. They deserve a chance, even if their parents suck!

Take them away from the parents so that they have a chance and i will help.

The world would be pretty dull if everyone agreed on everything...

My wife teaches special education here in town. She has some screwed up kids, let me rephase that, screwed up parents. Currenlty I would say we spend about $40/month so those kids have some snacks. Do I like paying it, no. But these kids are hungry because their freaking parents are too busy drinking or buying smokes. I don't want to see that much money go to the kids either but it is deserved. For some of these kids it is the only meal(s) they get. Even if only one kid gets better and does well I am glad I spend the $40 a month.

I agree to help the kids.. but I would rather put them in an environment where they can make something of themselves.

Even if their parents suck, taking them away from the parents will probably not be the best. For better or worse, they love their parents.

I agree with that, Fuzzy. Hopefully I don't offend anyone but I hope Obama gets rid of that No Child Left Behind Act that Bush instituted. It was an okay plan in theory but unrealistic in effect. The demands they made are great but unfortunately there was no money to help carry them out.

Times are certainly different even just compared to when I was in school. Some of the stuff these kids are going thru in their home life is unreal and I live in a smaller populated area than most. Child abuse, molestation, etc has screwed a lot of these kids up. My wife teaches kindergarten, 1st and 2nd gread special ed and some of her kids can't even comprehend at the same level as my 4 year old son. It is sad but somebody needs to try to help these kids or else they will grow up and be just like daddy and mommy needing constant handouts. I say help them now and possibly avoid a bigger problem later.
