I used the Glacial with my scuttle to get a warm lather with a cooling effect and it was quite intense. It felt pretty good to shave with.
I just place a big order. Scots Pine Bar Soap, Scots pine Shave soap Grapefruit Bar soap Barbershop Bar Soap MITA Shave Soap Lemony Chill WHAS tester of SharpDRessedMan AS and Tester of Bay Rum AS Can't wait to get them. Now I'll have enough soap for a long time.
I am really enjoying their vanilla sandalwood bar soap, I think a week in to it and it is really amazing how little I need to build off it now.
My goodies came in today. 1 large bottle of Lemony Chill 1 bottle of Bay Rum AS 1 bottle of Sharp Dressed Man 1 bar of Barber Shop 1 bar of Pig Trail 1 bar of Pink Grapefruit 1 bar of Scots Pine Sheep Soap 1 puck of Scots Pine Sheep Shave soap 1 puck of MITA 1 sample bar of Pina Colada-hook up Can't wait to pair the Lemony Chill with Electric Sheep shave soap. Kicking myself a little for not getting a full size Electric Sheep. Oh well. Next time.
Today I tried the electric sheep sample that got thrown in to my order. Really didn't care for the smell but the lather was plentiful and slick and it felt less drying than other soaps. It was probably the best performing soap I've tried but the smell puts me off. I still love the glacial and the lemony orange is also great. Their lime bath soap is also good, definitely the most fragrant of the many EO bath soaps I've used.
I didn't like Electric Sheep at first either, but after a few uses, the lemon smell really comes out. And it is uber slick. If you don't like it...
The Scots Pine has the same mutton tallow base as Electric Sheep, might be an option for you. It's my favorite scent of his. I haven't found any of his soaps drying, though.
Either tomorrow or Sunday I'll use the Black Ice soap. It lathers wonderfully and it has a very nice menthol sensation.
I find the scent nice, but another feature of that soap is the well-cared-for feeling my skin has after the shave. The menthol effect is a little milder than let's say, the MITA but it's still strong enough.
I got to meet Rod, the owner of Stirling Soaps yesterday! A few of us met in Austin, Texas yesterday for some BBQ. Rod drove down from Killeen. Rod is just as nice in person as he is on the phone and via the internet and e-mail. He is totally dedicated to making their product line as good as it can possibly. He brought a sample puck of a new scent is getting ready to introduce shortly: "Port au Prince". It is a vetiver-citrus scent. The puck smells great! I can't wait to try it out. Rod and Mandy are really stepping up to the next level and are ready to expand things a bit. Rod will fill us in as things unfold. Just through the way Rod conducts business and handles his customer service, I knew we would get along, but he is truly a down to earth guy dedicated to his products and his customers. It was great getting to meet face to face and spend a little time visiting. Bob Rod....in person. He really does exist. (He has a beard that he started with the birth of their son 18 months ago. It will be coming off before too long.)
Good to hear, I wanted to do a last minute addition to my order and he was very helpfull regarding that change. The soaps and lip balms are doing good here at the house so it looks like we will continue to restock from them.
THIS is reassuring to know since I hoped I wasn't imagining someone posting as Rod here on TSD a number of times.
I got to try my sample puck of Barbershop that I got from Rod. Great performer and great scent. It matches up perfectly with Canoe AS.
I really like the Barbershop scent. Canoe huh. I'll have to check it out when I get some green. So many things I want to get...and can't.
Just a heads up it looks like Stirling is doing flat rate shipping I believe $5 for whatever you order. Also prices have gone up a bit on the soaps, samples are now $2, shave soaps seem to have gone up a dollar to two, and bath soaps I think just .25 cents. Added to the site are a good variety of shave brushes and razors all of course for good prices. Need a Stirling Soap mark on the wood brushes, that would be sweet.
