well you never know til you ask right. can you run a DE across a leather strap or a pass or two across a whetstone to prolong the life of the blade?
Yep the heal of the hand works great. Stropping that way has allowed me to double the useful life of my DE blades.
My dad mentions using a strop for DE blades in this thread (down toward the bottom of the OP). I have done it myself, but usually just use my arm like he does.
I've been stropping my blades on the palm of my hand for several weeks now and I can't believe how much it improves the blade life. I've been using a polsilver blade for six straight days now and I plan to use it again tomorrow. Normally I'd have tossed the blade by 3 shaves.
