Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, I'll try not to disappoint. RyX, your question about about discontinued products has a real short answer. Usually, when I find something that works I don't tend to stray. It seems that Old Spice stopped making their mug soap. Sad days indeed. That is what dad always used and when I converted to the DE (never was happy with the quatro, mach3 and sensor (and the like)), that's what I went to, also . I guess its been about 10 or 12 year now. I read an article years ago about about modern creams and soaps not having glycerin in them and that that was one of components that really softened the whiskers (Antique chair caning, too. I case anyone is into that). I found that Neutrogena makes a product that contains glycerin and fits the bill. All I can say is that it works great for me and I'm really satisfied with it. I started on the Nickel acetate last night (for the replating). I took a few pics but, its uneventful: a jar with greenish liquid and a few wires. I started out by saying this would be short... oops. wait... my thread, right? I'm gonna stretch out, take up some space. dan
If you have time to share more information on the homemade replating, that would be very interesting.
It's just key strokes and used electrons. Feel free to blather on! For those that have an interest, Dan has started his thread "Replating a 40's SuperSpeed" (<-clicky link)
