    Ohh! If you buy one CVH, most likely it will not be the last one

    Ok guys, educate me. What is the difference between the CVH MK vs. BK??

    If you look closer it looks like the BK is a little bit more hollow then the MK, perhaps also a little bit wider? My MK is almost 16mm = 5/8”. The grind is a little bit more hollow then the MK 24.[IMG]

    As I understand it Scott,

    M.K. = Magnus Kindal, who bought the Heljestrand company
    BK = Best Quality (according to Arne, I believe) - I don’t know if this is just marketing or if there’s other meaning to it.

    Thanks. Any idea of the production dates on CVH razors?? I'm picking your brain.

    The i ory and tortoise models were pre-1940, the start of WW2 prevented commercial shipping. The M.K. 133 were simpler post war models scaled in plastic. I think, but am not sure that production of straight razors stopped in the 1970s - 1980s. Hans might have better information.

    @Steve56
    So, did the BK's come before the MK's??

    CV Heljstrand moved the majority of the production to Årjäng ( close to the Norwegian border ) in 1963. The company was bankrupt in 1979. Strange is that a company called SMP+Cardio bought CVH in 2009. They are producing articles for heart surgery…

    I am not sure about that, think that MK was a brand name before BK, I have not seen the labelling BK before this thread.

    Another proof from the last knife smith in Eskilstuna that renovates razors and knifes
    That BK not mean’s Best Quality.
