Nexus Hybrid Synthetic 26 mm. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements(Phoenix Shaving) The base of the knot is a hair over 26 mm, but a 25 or 24 mm would be best, in the latest Rubberset 400 restoration. The ferrule on it measured 25 mm. I could shave it down, but it might make contact with the fibers. I'm just not sure I want this in a Rubberset 400 restoration project. Too white, much too soft, and too thin of fibers. Up close, it looks nothing like a Boar.
I like the PAA Nexus knot, but I agree it is absolutely NOT like a boar knot. This knot is gentle and soft on the skin. Here are a couple of Ever Ready brushes with the PAA Nexus knot. Both of these feel wonderful to me!
Those look great, but I'm shooting for something more Period looking. I think I will find a custom 26 mm handle to put this one in. .
BOTI Faux Boar $5.62 w/free shipping. About as close as I could find to real Boar. Unset, next to an Omega Knot set in a Rubberset.
After the BOTI knots epoxy set up, I did a full face lather. It was soft unlike a.boar, with a little scritch, like a boar. It had backbone, like a boar. On it's first try, it only threw out one hair. Best of all, it didn't smell like a pigs butt.
very cool.i have omega boars in all but 2 of my custom or restored brushes.might try another synthetic in future.my rubberset 400-3 has an omega boar and it's breaking in really nice.
