I love the scent, many do. How do you know you won't?

    It's a good soap

I've learned not to only go after other members opinions =P no offense. It's just YMMV once again.

It is a very good soap. It is unfortunate that others rag on its scent. They do the same for Arko, and I really like that, too.

I ordered a tub of Tabac and it was ok but it did not blow me away so when a very good friend said he loves it and was almost out I sent it to him. Then I tried the Tabac crème and fell in love with the lather and the scent. Now I am thinking of getting another tub of the soap. "AS THE WORLD TURNS"

Maybe I will but if it is that strong I most likely will not. I am not a fan of heavy and or lingering scents. One reason is that I am afraid it will irritate my skin, that being the number one reason.

I remember my grandfather smelling great. When I first started out in the wet shaving world I accidentally stumbled upon Tabac which is pretty much the only shaving soap sold in shops where I live, apart from Palmolive sticks, and I immediately recognised the scent. I bought it and it has been one of my favorites ever since. I also buy the Tabac deodorant sticks in bulk, 6 every time, on ebay. Love the scent. I think I smell like a man's man.

I liked Tabac at first sniff. I've tried both the soap and cream & prefer the soap in terms of performance.
Anyway I've read that Tabac was recently tweaked and the packaging got a new modern style logo. Apparently the scent is ever so slightly different in the new formula. I don't think new stuff has turned up state-side yet but I'll be interested to see the reviews when it does.

The Tabac arrived today. I was going to be all Menthol Monday for tonight's shave, but of course I need to use the new Tabac tonight instead. I'll report on the lather later, but for now, it smells like an old lady wearing hairspray.

Fortunately, the scent dissipates…somewhat…. and the soap is excellent!

I agree! I've just shaved with it. Not only does it lather quick, it's slick and great to shave with. All shave soap should be like this. Except the smell. I'm trying to think of a aftershave to pair with it, and all I can think of is AquaNet.

I like Krampert's bay rum or Maggard's London Barbershop with Tabac

I can't hold back any longer. I kept completely ignoring tabac, every time I was in the department store I have been using to buy a lot of my gear. Assuming it was old fashioned and not for me. After maybe my 20 or so visit sometimes to buy, but normally to just admire and take in all the paraphernalia, curiosity made me spray the tabac a/s lotion.
I purchased it immediately and use it often. I love it. I'm well into my 30 day rule, nearly done with it, and as of tomorrow on my side cabinet will be a big glass pot of tabac soap, waiting to liberate me. I love the smell, but after reading countless top reviews, it looks like a must have.

Since I received Tabac, it's been my main go to soap. My Proraso collection's getting nervous. I think I've used it almost exclusively.

    That's quite the high marks.
Does it, if you have it, smell like the EdC and would you say it's a faint or strong scent?

I don't have the EdC, so no idea. It's not faint or strong, it's in the middle when you're using it, then goes to faint. The scent is almost meaningless though, because the magic thing I've found with it so far is that every aftershave I've tried pairs with it nicely. There's no conflict that I can find, and the Tabac scent just kind of sits underneath it all. You should try this, you'd like it.

Try and pair the soap with the Old Spice after shave.. I almost puked :-(

I'm not used to scents like the Americans (you are, per default/culture, more into scents than Europeans and specific Danes), but I cannot stand the strongness of the Tabac SS. It's so strong it gives me a headache, and it lingers for a long time, rendering my presence unwanted by the family. Too bad, I tend to like the scent, it's just way too strong.

YMMV. I've said I'm keeping it, but I think I'm selling it instead. No need to fill the cabinet with something I don't use.

Agree, it's completely a YMMV thing. Tabac and Old Spice is one of my favorite combinations. One of the many great things about this obsession, mixing and matching combinations of hardware and software that makes one happy. Life's too short and as it has been said, it's your shave, enjoy it the way you like.:)

You are incorrect sir! I will not point out your faulty thinking but instead say that our mileage varies greatly.

Good day to you sir. I say good day to you.
