I received my first bowl of Tabac today. I opened it up and shaved right away. I cannot pin down the smell. It's nice but a bit like "old man" (I guess I will be one soon enough). Really good lather. I'm satisfied enough to keep on using it.
I still have yet to acquire a taste for the scent. Love the soap. Tolerate the scent. I bought the cologne as well. The scent drove my wife crazy—not in a good way. Wound up giving the bottle to my 81-yr old mom. She loves it.
shhh... the young generation don't know that....don't let them know... I was wearing Tabac aftershave at a family meeting some time ago and my brother's-in-law wife(which is 24) asked me what is that aftershave, because she likes it....
So it's not a old man scent it's an old woman scent, unless your mom is young at heart which makes it a young woman's scent.
I love the scent. I'm 33 so not "old". Old is a huge word... I think that Alt Innsbruck smells a bit more like "old" men than the Tabac does...
My mom loves the Tabac cologne as it reminds her of the Miss Dior cologne she wore for years until it became prohibitively expensive. Now she can wear the Teutonic alternate and save a few pennies...
For me I think it's such a complex scent it took me awhile to parse it out. Once that happened, I liked the smell and it didn't smell like an old man scent anymore. I'm wondering how many others who like it now feel the same way?
