I purchased some Tabula Rasa from Lee's when he had his 12 days of Christmas sale. It is the unscented cream. I haven't tried it out yet but have heard good things about it. If I like it I would like to add some scent, etc to it. What would I need to accomplish this. I know nothing about EO or FO, etc so any information would be greatly appreciated.
I've never tried Tabula Rasa. Is it a normal cream consistency, or one of the firmer/harder creams? How much do you want to scent with one EO/FO? An ounce, two ounces?
I tried a sample of it--it was scented with I forget what exactly. It smelled great, lathered great, but gave me irritations on the neck, and chin. A pity, because the cream itself seemed terrific.
I would say it is normal consistency, actually to look and feel it reminds me of your creams JoAnna. I have no idea on the EO/FO amounts. I don't know anything about that kind of stuff.
Ok. No, I meant how much cream do you want to scent? The whole tub with one scent? Or separate it out into a couple smaller portions and scent it with a couple different scents?
The tub is about yay by yay. Just kidding. I will check it tonight at the house and let you know. Thanks for the help, JoAnna. Of course if this stuff stinks I won't be adding anything to it.
I was able to find a few EOs at my local Body Shop. They had Eucalyptus, Bergamot, and I think Lavender. I bought a little bottle of the Bergamot. L'Occitane also carries some EO bottles with mixtures of different ones. From Em's place, she has a video showing how to add EO to an individual shave. That is the method I use - basically, when I lather, I add 1-2 drops of the stuff when I whip up the lather. I just drop them into my lathering bowl, along with the cream dollop, then lather like normal. I haven't tried to scent an entire tub.
No Prob. Mine just came in the mail today and I happened to see the weight listed on the bottom of the tub.
Yep, Lime Essential Oil. I'd suggest no more than 1/8 a teaspoon of essential oil per ounce. Different EO/FOs you might want to go lighter on, for scent strength reasons.
Thanks JoAnna, I really appreciate that. Now that you did the research that means this cream will be crappy. I may have just jinxed it.
