That might work. :think002: I never thought of trying to use a punch on the blades. The blades are very brittle though.

I did think of trying to enlarge the holes with a small rat tail file if I built a small jig to clamp the blade in. The blade holes are just ever so slightly too small. They don't quite fit my Darwin Mustache Razor either. :(

Intrigued, do you own ALL the beautiful razors in these pictures?!? That is amazing! If I wasn't long married I think I might propose...

    Thank you for sharing!

How is it even possible you have found all these? Guys search for years for one, and never find it... and you have 5! Was your maiden name Darwin??? Ahhh, that must be it!

It can't hurt to try. Update:
Since I happened to have one of those infernal devices and a long forgotten pack of Merkur blades, I performed an experiment. It works! (It really killed me to sacrifice two of my most hated blades in the name of science and progress.;)) One blade wrapped in wax paper and one naked blade without paper. On the blade with wax paper the hole punched cleanly and with no deformation except for a small sliver that didn't cut but folded upwards. A subsequent punch cleaned that up nicely. The unwrapped blade punched cleanly but deformed at the edges of the hole. If you want I can post pictures tomorrow, along with an unpunched blade for comparison. The amount of material removed is very small, so it would most likely be a perfect fit.

    :signs021:

Were they regular Merkur blades that you punched or their little (brittle) corn razor blades??? Also what size hole punch did you use?

I don't see why the corn blades should be more brittle than a regular merkur blade, presumably they use the same tempering process on all their blades. If that is a concern, use heavy card stock on either side of the blade. I used a standard hole punch, probably 20-30 years old that looks identical to the one in the picture I uploaded. I couldn't tell you what size, but it is the same size hole as a three hole punch makes.

This first pic is of the punch without wax paper. Notice the spalling on the edge of the punch?

The second pic is of the punched blade with waxed paper (on the right) and a regular unpunched blade (on the left).

The final picture is of the punched blade on top of a regular unpunched blade.
