HI - I have the handle with me right now and I will weight it and give a proper answer. it feels like about 100 grams. or 4 ounces
Well, I arrived at this late but I too would like the option of a solid handle. I prefer beefier brushes, lighter weight brushes don't last long in my rotation. I will look forward to your Market place thread appearing if it hasn't already. In your prototype picture, I like the grooves going all the way up to the top of the ferrule. I would think the grooves would add extra space for knot sealants to set up and keep it in place.
I'm definitely interested but I seem to be on the unpopular side as I'd prefer solid handle. I like a little heft to my brushes. These look great! Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
Good news is that with the removable ferrule, the End User can fill the hollow handle to fine tune the weight. From aluminum to lead the weight could be adjusted for your own personal lathering pleasure.
True, but if you request the handle solid, you cut down on the machining time as the manufacturer doesn't have to bore out the middle. But it all comes down to preference. If the manufacturer says that it is hollow handle only, the point is moot.
So - a quick update. Some details about the brush: Material is 6063 Aluminium. This is an architectural/furniture grade and is alloyed with silicon and magnesium. Threading for the ferrule is M25*1. might ask for *2 thread instead to give a tighter fit. My decision is not set in stone yet on this one The handle is solid and having had it in my hands for a day or so now I think I am going to keep it solid. The material is light and hollowing it out would only mean two things: More process time (+cost) and the handle would be so light it would not stand up very well on its end when shaving. My opinion is that at about 4 ounces (100 gr.) it is not heavy at all. The finish is a simple anodisation - I will more than likely get this changed a little and have some additional treatment to seal the surface although at first sight it seems good Hand feel - superb and smooth Size - a nice hand size - my hands are average size and the brush fits comfortably in my hand - see pics already posted
Very nice. Size wise, how does it compare to the Rubberset 400? Having the possibility of interchanging ferrules would be a ++ IMO
Very similar in size to a #400 but heavier is it is solid. Stands up nicely on a bench or cabinet top.
The weight and height etc. - 100 gr. or approximately 3.5 oz. 79mm tall or 3 1/8" Knot aperture is 25mm. Threading is M25*1 The handle is staying as solid - hollow would be way to light and people would only have to weight it again.
