Its the blade I am referring to. I use a razor from 1912 frequently as well as several from the 20s but I am not going to try an old loose blade that could have been used has probably suffered from years of corrosion, and probably wasn't as sharp as a modern blade to start with..
Real men use tomato soup can lids.. I have no desire to use the old blades either.. but these things are great with new ones.
I think your fiancee is making fun of you for using such an old instrument. Most women, I find, think its crazy to use anything more than five years old. You will soon come to the conclusion that I have, ignore her when it comes to shaving - I have.
Well as I live north of the MD line, I am obviously not a real man and will stick with my wimpy DE blades.
The laughing and funny looks started when she saw me posting to TSD! "They have shaving forums? Next thing you'll be joining a shaving club!" I considered telling her that some of the B&B crowd in the DFW area were having a gathering. I just tell her that I'm trying to get a smooth shave for her. She certainly doesn't understand the "shaving as a hobby" aspect. C'est la vie. I think she was more concerned with how much money I was spending on shaving stuff than anything (though she likes to have a good laugh at my expense ). Once I told her how much the razors cost she didn't seem to mind so much. I could always reference the hundreds of dollars (if not thousands) of Star Wars toys and collectibles she has. (Yes, you read that right. I know how lucky I am.)
