This one was too easy...Moody's Mood For Love...feat. James Moody and Dizzy Gillespie's United Nation's Orch This tune was originally just one of James Moody's improvised sax solos on "I'm In The Mood For Love". Every night he would rifle off perfect improvisations but this perticular was captured on a recording.. So for fun Eddie Jefferson the great Jazz vocalist who was working with Moody at the time put words to it and recorded it, and it became a Jazz vocal standard that many of Jazzes best vocalist use to prove themselves....Here we get to hear Moody sing it himself...Kind of went full-circle... Moody is not a singer but he is such a great musician with a strong Jazz soul that he really puts a number on this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQl9RVMNtw4 And Take 6 with Patti Austin sitting in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnlQ6A3dkfY&feature=related I was going to put Amy Winehouses' version, but after I listened to it...She had a great voice but she really couldn't pull this tune off, like I said...This tune is a proving ground for singers....So out of respect for Amy I deleted it...
Winhouse was a talent, but many issues prevented us from seeing her best SRV "Rude Mood" http://youtu.be/KCHVpDwMS2k
