I did a month of Williams. It's on a 30 Day thread somewhere. Rubbing the puck on my face like a shave stick actually worked the best for me. But, wanted you to know it's not contempt prior to investigation, it just didn't really work for me too well.

 

Your not the first to say that is the best way. I made a shave stick out of a graded cake. Love it. I am happy I got williams into another thread. Well you did but I got a quote and post outta it

 

I'm sure there are people out there that love Williams, I don't like it. I don't know a single person who does now that I think about it.

 

Arko pretty much is Williams in the Middle East. No harm done.

 

There's one poster here that does, but this is an Arko thread. Do you use Arko, or not yet?

 

Yeah I use it. I bought a 12 stick box of it on Amazon a couple months back. Love the stuff

 

ARKO is a good soap, but not spectacular (IMO). It will last until it's gone, or until you get bored enough with it to throw it out

I use Arko for pretty much every shave. While it doesn't smell GREAT it doesn't smell bad either, kind of neutral to me. I use it for how it performs and the affordability. Seems to last me a long time also. I bowl lather so I need to cut the stick up and smash it into my bowl.

Not a fan of the scent and for that reason wont use it. More importantly, my wife doesn't like it either .
I received a stick of Arko recently as a bonus gift with an Ebay purchase and thought to myself " well thats one way of getting rid of it"

I've used Arko some, but I have much better soaps and prefer those. Can't beat the value! That's my descriptor. Good luck, Chris. This will be fun to watch.

 

Never tried it myself, but the word I hear most often with Arko is cheap.

Used Arko for the first time today(thanks Chris!). About 1.5 -2 gr yielded voluminous quantities of lather. I could have shared what was left for 2 other people

My word is Voluminous. I guess 85 shaves.

Due to the scent, I was going to pick 'medicinal' or like someone else said 'neutral'. Wasn't bad nor good. Just ... there. Lather was super thick but I just couldn't get any slickness. Continue this saga in the April Focus thread.....

 

I wouldn't say that I love it, but I have used it off and on ad nauseum over the last 7 years. Currently, I have over 2 cases of it here. It is a very nice and inexpensive soap (paid less than $1 per stick for my hoard). Usage really depends on brush size. In the past using a 28mm badger brush, I would get about 2.5 months out of 2 sticks crammed in an old spice mug. Currently, I have a smaller brush and use it in stick form and get almost 7 weeks out of a stick. I think it is more comfortable to use the long side of the stick to apply rather than the small end.
