I've been a drummer for almost 35 years and I've admired Dave for many years. He's definitely one of the most influential drummers of our time. My #1 guy is Billy Cobham though. I sat 10 feet from him and watched him play for two hours once. It was mesmerizing. I've never seen anything like it. I almost broke out in tears when I learned that Louie Bellson died a couple of days ago.
I have to say, Dave Weckl is the best drummer I've ever heard play. I dunno about any other amazing drummers, I just can't imagine that anyone could be better than Dave. And I love his band... they are unreal. I almost typed ubrealy... thats them tho. They are ubrealy.
