The head is different on each side so you can just use the mild or more aggressive side but I also think you can turn the head plate over which may give you 4 aggressions?? Not sure until it arrives

Cubancigar2000 you may have gotten something very, very nice.

David, I found something on this razor.

I thought is was a 1930s vintage and it seems to be based on other information as well as the link below. This is like the Neillite I showed eariler with two different open comb configurations.

Cubancigar2000, please let us know how this one performs. Enjoy and we hope to see more pictures of it when it arrives.

The Utopia is a closed comb ... when you use the original head.

I forgot about the Muhle Twist I tested in a razor pass around. It is a closed comb.

Ok, this Lutz arrived yesterday so I used it on the right side of my face and all of my neck today ( Straight on the left) It has two different aggressions which are seen by looking at the blade gap. I used the aggressive side for my face and the less aggressive for my neck. My neck is a bear to get close because the hairs grow in different directions. getting a close shave on my neck is nearly impossible with a sr. If I had a shorty with a smile, it would be a piece of cake. At any rate this razor makes quick work of it and the shave was as BBS as I have ever experienced. You do have to be careful as it feels like you could slice your face at any given moment. I like the razor but it is hard for me at my old age to see the aggression differences so I will be marking the aggressive side somehow. Will it replace my SR's, oh gosh no. I love the straights. It most certainly will be one of my go to DE razors now though. The Cadet open comb I just got takes a close second to this razor, 3rd place goes to my Gillette Slims on setting 9. One downfall with this razor- it is fairly light and is a post metal of some kind that has been plated. We shall see how it holds up and god forbid it should ever need a replate

This is my new favorite a 2013 r41 with a htgam nametaker handle. Me, I dont understand all the fear I went from using a merkur 25c to this and the shave is so much better. Not to mention smooth. I can feel the blade on my skin and I guess im strang but I like it. The only problem is under my nose.

Excellent review. Sounds a lot like the Neillite 400 in performance except the Neillite is not a slant.

Sadly you more than likely will not be able to replate it since certain early pot metals contaminate the solutions that the replaters use. So they pass on the work.

Does a red ring fall into this category?

Yes, it is a Closed Comb because like the Barbasols, R41s, they have a continuous connection between the teeth as a plate material support or as a guard. Open Combs have nothing to support the open teeth.
