1-2014-10-12 16.50.24.jpg 1-2014-10-12 16.47.47.jpg My wife and I cleaned up the garden today because the frost is not far away. We did not pick all the peppers. We left 5 jalapeno and 2 Red Fresno plants because they, are still producing but the frost will get them eventually. This is a photo of part of the harvest 38.6 lbs of Jalapenos,Red Fresnos, Serranos, Cayenne's & Anahiems. Debbie ( my lovely wife) says she needs to watch me next year so I don't plant so many peppers and tomatos. Ha ha Good luck honey. That's not a sink, it is a bath tub LOL

There is nothing at all wrong with being a garden enthusiast.
I don't think you need watching, you need an assistant! :)

    What a fantastic crop!
If you can't eat all those by yourselves, I'm sure there are friends & neighbors who would love some.
I over plant every year just for that reason. To share.

    Fantastic!

    That's fantastic. How many plants?

I had an abnormal Bhut Jolokia plant this year. The one guy is 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide. I have gotten about 4 gallons of dried peppers from it and it is still loaded. It produced more than my 3 habanero plants put together. I love growing New Mexico peppers as well. Green chili cheese burgers with a tomato and cucumber salad is one the absolute best reasons to plant a garden each year.

Well Sara- . My wife and I love hot peppers. I canned 67 qts of salsa, 28 qts of pickled peppers and carrots & onions. We froze the rest. We have a lot of friends this time of year LOL and my three sons all love hot peppers so they will actually get used. We send salsa to our friends from different states at christmas

Yes, we both do. We both grew up on farms so it is something we have done all our lives

Have you ever used any of them to make a pepper-flavored oil?

I wish I had a garden. But I don't even think I can grow peppers in Sweden. How warm weather do they need?

They like hot weather. We had a bumper crop of peppers ( and everything else) this year. It gets to be over 100 in July and stays hot through sept. You could grow them inside in pots, I have done so. I have a green house and grow them all year. They like to be soaked when they wilt and then no water until the wilt again. Try it, it is fun

Just remember to also plant some onions, garlic and cilantro. Then make some totally killer salsa!
