Wow...it's so much fun to try new things related to our shared enjoyment of all things shaving! I've seen and read this thread many times, but couldn't break the habit of preshave, lather and rinse with hot/very warm water. I just did it without thinking.
So this morning, I conciously splashed a cold water rinse on my face after my shower, filled my rinse bowl with lukewarm water (I bowl rinse my razors while shaving), lathered with cold water and after shaving rinsed with cold water. I just had the "latest" best shave I've ever had lol!
It seemed easier to "stretch" my skin, as the cold water almost felt like it did some of that for me. The after shave cold rinse was a pleasure...refreshing and a charge. I got great lather with a cold, wet Barbasol Arctic Chill done in my mug. My face felt completely different after a three pass with my British Model 1912 Ever Ready and a Pella. Felt smoother already, even before tightening it up again with the very lightly fragranced Lustray Bay Rum. (A little rub in of Lucky Tiger Toner/Tonic on my scalp to add even more zip followed).
I'll also say that it's NOT just the invigorating feel of cold that I felt. My skin actually feels cleaner, softer and smoother. I rarely have a lot of burn from an after shave, but today it was ZERO.

Clean, soft, smooth all great benefits. The invigorating feel also helps wake me up so there is less chance of the infamous nick that sneaks up on me

After reading a post by Roby about Cold water shaving well over a year ago is why I decided to try this type of shaving. It is the only way I Shave now and I thank you Roby! This is also the first feed I read everyday. Sometimes there is nothing or very few posts but Jayaruh and Roby post here almost everyday.

The comment was once made that this thread was more like "A Duo of Cold Water Shavers." Sometimes it seems that way because most CW Shavers just shave and don't post, but this thread has become a resource that has changed the shaving habits of many a shaver. It has just become a way of life for me. Never going back to hot water except for cleaning my equipment.

 

I mostly fit into the just shave and don’t post. Although I cold water shave everyday, my shave photos are generally weekends only

Stressful early morning medical tests wiped clean with this relaxing and satisfying cold water shave. Joyfully used my British Model Ever Ready 1912, a Gem from Ted Pella, a wonderfully shiny, great feeling lather mixture of Cooling Cremo and Barbasol Arctic Chill and a follow up of Aqua Velva. That little razor is my favorite, even with the Ted Pella. Not a nick, weeper, etc at all. That let the Velva do its job...be cold and smell great!
