A late shave this evening. I had absolutely no time this morning and by mid afternoon the stubble was beginning to drive me crazy. The shave was mild ....but very efficient. 3 passes for a lovely finish....and I am actually beginning to enjoy cold water shaves!

Gentleman, if you'd answer me a question. How long after a shower should one wait if they were to shave with cold water? I know I can always finish the shower with cold water, but want some input. Thanks.

There is no right answer. I like to go to bed clean, so I shower at night. Having washed my face in the shower, I have over night for the natural oils to begin to return. Then in the morning, I do not wash my face but instead begin with just a cold water rinse. So, the returning natural oils act as a pre-shave treatment. Lathering and shaving with cold water will again begin to remove those oils, but hopefully it will not strip them completely.

I personally do not soak any of my brushes. I simply wet the brush thoroughly with cold water, shake it off, and like @ordinaryshaver, I use the brush to wet my face. Then, without re-wetting the brush, I load it and begin face lathering. Keep it simple.

Do whatever works best for you. I shower first thing in the morning, towel dry, and then go straight to shaving. I always cold water shave. From exiting the shower to shaving is probably a couple of minutes. That works just fine for me.

My shaves usually occur between 4 & 5 o’clock in the morning. The cold water shave is a nice, brisk wake up.
