Odd, How have I never seen this thread before. I guess I am a probationary member of this club as my claim to fame has yet to be validated. But I too enjoy the crispness of a cold water shave in the morning.

Happy to help Kerry.
You are up and running.
Oh My Goodness!
Well. I did require help. A big shout out to the @Queen of Blades for the assist.
@Queen of Blades
I have just tried it. Here's what I noticed: the pre-shave (Proraso) sat on my skin much more, rather than being absorbed. I rinse between passes and the pre-shave was noticeable throughout the shave; my shaving soap lathered, on my face, much more easily. I used MWF; I didn't get that clammy, slightly puffy feel to my face that I normally get after my shave. I wasn't sure I had a great shave, that may have been down to a new type of blade, but touching my face, some thirty minutes later - I am incredibly smooth. It's a great shave! Honestly, I can't stop touching my face.
A good experience, but one I would enjoy more on a really hot evening. I think for me, the cold water took a little bit of the luxury out of the shave. Soaking your face in a cold flannel is definitely not as pleasant. I would never have tried it without this thread. Thanks.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's fun trying new things, this hobby is amazingly versatile. Ounce you become accustomed to it, it feels every bit as luxurious. It's very invigorating.
I was wondering about using a scuttle in conjunction with a cold water shave
Warm lather feels great and contrasts nicely with a cold rinse.
If you liked that Art of Manliness article, you should check out the one on Cold Showers. There are actually a lot of physical and physiological benefits. I haven't gone quite that far, but in the summer I usually do the last half of the shower cold.
