And.... Cold water plus alkali soap makes hair keratin brittle, allowing the bevel to break the hair shafts more easily.

So I committed to trying this for a week, and while I was sort of intending to wait until it just generally warmed up, I was reading through this thread and decided to go for it.

So I M-Bombed the Hell out of a bowl of Stirling Scot's Pine Sheep uberlathered with Speick. To be honest, when you are face freezing to begin with, other than missing the contrast of that warm water rinse between passes, it didn't seem all that different. Had a fine shave for Day 1.

Tomorrow I will face lather something with more of a warm feel to it and see how it goes.

I cold shave year round.I even fill my scuttle with ice water for those times I don't face lather.During the warmer weather I'll add a ice cube rub with my cold water rinse.

It will be interesting to see how my shaves change as the weather warms up. I'm just using the coldest tap water I can get from my faucet. The water temperature is a good bit warmer in the summer than in the winter. I may have to bring in a big cup of water with ice cubes as some people have mentioned as the weather warms up.

Right now the water temperature is pretty good - nice and cool. I really enjoy this thread and sharing the experiences of cold water shaving.

I have the same problem here in Phoenix. Our new house is better but at the old house I shut the water heater off in the summer and it would still steam up the mirrors.

I used ice water tonight for everything, it's fantastic! It is refreshing and there was zero irritation. I'm adding ice cubes from now on

Stick with cold! Irritation will naturally decrease as you and your skin get used to traditional shaving, but cold is the best way.

My tap in Colorado runs at 35f. No ice needed. ☺

Good morning guys. La Toja Shave Stick Monday @GatorJoe inspired. This morning i gave the Sputnik blade another try and they just aren't my favorite. They are plenty sharp but after my first pass i had to toss it and reach for a PLB to finish up. Something about this blade makes my skin feel like it's burning, very uncomfortable. I had a wonderful shave regardless and ended up dolphin smooth again thanks largely in part to the iced water it just does wonders for the skin. The black beauty is so much fun to shave with and so well balanced.:love029:La Toja provided yogurty, slick, creamy goodness to keep my face protected. Finished with more icy goodness from my Stirling MITA balm. Have a great shave and a great day friends.

Good morning everyone. Today was my first shave with my new to me Schick Adjustable Injector which i purchased from @Troy M, thank you buddy! At the recommendation of my buddy Mike aka @Redfisher i set it to 9 and got to work. Beautiful efficient, smooth shave! :love055: I love this razor, very maneuverable and well balanced. :love029: Not a whisker left, dolphin smooth and the iced water does it again. :smiley freezing: Have a great shave and a great day folks. :)

I'm about to embark on my first child water shave this evening. I suffer from irritation all the time so I'm anxious to give this a try
