Here is an email I received from the dear doctor a couple of months ago:

    "
    Case:
    • I've decided to include a travel case also with the standalone handle, not only with the complete brush. I think you will like. It is a functional case, which will help when you go travelling. And it will match with the brush, with its design. And there will not be carton box, beyond the outer shipping carton.
    Price and discounts:
    • The price of the complete brush is calculated with a Finest two bands badger knot. Since the Silvertip samples have not arrived yet, I want to be cautious, and not set up the price. But it will be a little higher.
    • The price of the complete brush will have a discount for Shavenook and TheShavingRoom forum fellows, if you tell me your nickname.
    • The price of standalone handle, for this initial startup of the project, will also have discount, but can not ensure that in the future would hold. It is likely that in the future the price of the standalone handle has no discount. I can not make a commitment in this.
    • To the price of complete brush and/or standalone handle, I must add shipping costs which include registered mail and outer packaging costs. In the shipping costs there is no discount.
    • Payment should be made by Paypal.

    Prices
    • Standalone handle: EUR 97
    • Discounted standalone handle: EUR 92 (for Shavenook and TheShavingRoom fellows)
    • Complete Brush Finest badger knot: EUR 152
    • Discounted Complete Brush Finest knot: EUR 144 (for Shavenook and TheShavingRoom fellows)
    Shipping

    • Shipping to Europe: EUR 11.50
    • Shipping to Rest of World: EUR 15.50
    • Important NOTE: For shipping to determinate countries, could have special payment or shipping methods and different expenses, at my discretion, as well as the possibility of not ship there. This will be discussed with each and every particular case, if needed.
    Orders:
    • You can place your order now by email if you agree.
    • It is not needed to pay until the brush is ready to send, but I need to know if your order is firm, to not take surprises later.
    • Then, to take note of your order, I need your complete address and your email address linked to Paypal for sending the invoice when ready.
    BUT
    • Anyone making full payment of the brush or standalone handle in advance, when placing the order, will secure a brush in this batch (because obviously, the batch will be a finite number of units, and do not know whether to reach for everyone, but I'll try) and also will be sent first.
    • And whoever makes a partial payment on account
      • of EUR 50 for the standalone handle,
      • and EUR 80 for the complete brush,
can rest assured that his handle or brush will be sent following the above.
    • In either of these cases, who helps to me to pay the initials expenses with his advance payment or account, will have an additional discount of 20% on the purchase of the complete second brush now or in the future, this or either other model that I could manufacture, except for special batches (such as titanium batch I am planning).

I can only thank you to you the support and encouragement you give me. The world is full of wonderful people and I am fortunate to meet some. Thanks, always thank you, friend.

I await your thoughts. Please feel free to decline with no commitments, but tell me something.

    Now Info about the brush:
    • The handle is one piece. The colored O-ring is a cosmetic issue.
    • Made of aluminum. Polished and finished by hand. Will need a gentle cleaning from time to time, when tarnish, with soft cream or metal polish and a cloth, like all polished metals, and will shine like new.
    • 85 grams aprox. 25 mm hole to install a knot 24 mm.
Please take note that this brush is not an original Rubberset 400. It is an homage, a tribute to it. Its value is different. It is lovely too, but humbly I have to say that's not an original old brush. I tried to respect it, although there are some subtle differences.
    • One is that it is a one piece brush.
    • Another, the colored O-ring, that the original one does not carry.
    • And the weight and some measures. This is heavier, to give it more stability when standing, wet and full of lather.

My personal expertise in restoring the finest barber brushes in the world, has helped me to make my re-interpretation of this model that I love and is not in production. But now everyone can have a BSB. In modern aluminum, no casting bubbles, no high lead content. Machined on a CNC lathe, after many prototypes destroyed, following my personal indications, in a semi-traditional way, with several machines involved. Polished and finished by hand by an expert polisher. Washed and gently hand polished with a cotton cloth and soft metal polish cream by myself. Packaged by me, with cotton gloves so as not mark it with my fingerprints. It has a good quality, but again I have to humbly say that its value is different. Has value, but in other way. Make no mistake.

The whole process, from concept, design, to production, is made in Barcelona, Spain, Europe, with love and passion. I am this way. Quality is European, and the costs also. This handle requires many machining operations, and is finished one by one by hand.

Nothing's in the BSB is by chance. The weight has not come by chance. It has been sought to weigh that. About 85 grams. Industrial engraving of letters instead of lasers, is not by chance. It was intended. An austere engraving.

The color and thickness of the rubber is not by chance, if you see my avatar. Neither the background color of the cards. The cards are the color of the flower Solanum Dulcamara, yellow and purple. And the lighting in the center of the photo, that radiant yellow is the sun of Spain. I'm a romantic, I know.

This project lasted a year and has been time to think very hard.

Brush in titanium is in process, just FYI.

Kind Regards, Juan, aka Dr Dulcamara.

    Nice find.
As long as you buy at least $35 worth of stuff or you'll be hit with a $6 shipping charge - which might not be too hard as they seem to have quite a few well priced shaving items.

Yes and the Beauty.com site has higher end products too, e.g. Acca Kappa. It all counts toward your free shipping.

With a Truefitt & Hill set and two Geo F Trumper creams incoming, I'm either going to start thinning or add on to the den. :happy088:
