My first real strops. Now I have to shave with my straight tomorrow so I can strop it properly. The shipping force was smiling on me and it crossed the Pacific and western US in just 1 week. Not sure how to rotate the photos.

Hit one of my favorite antique malls today. No Razors but some nice mugs and Shaving stick tins.

Sweet finds! :happy088: I envy you guys on the East Coast, just a lot longer, richer history then here in the Midwest. Hard to find things like scuttles and older straights in the wild. Probably paid more than I should have for my scuttle ( about EBay/market price ) but it was the first I have come across here.
I love finding things from the late 1800's/early 1900's. I can picture someone getting ready in the morning, boiling some water for a warm shave and lathering up his scuttle and stropping his straight to get a nice shave for the day! Pretty cool! My newly found scuttle is proudly displayed with my growing shaving paraphernalia!

Happy hunting! It's flea market/garage sale season here so should be a fun summer!

Unfortunately in my area we are getting thin. the dealers here are putting things on eBay and not on the shelves since shaving is so hot right now.

A stick wrapped in tin foil. The soap also smells nice. :)

Today in the mailbox: The Beauty and The Beast...

    First package contained;

    The Beast
I've wanted a Gardette ever since I got into a lot of the French safety razors.
Finally found an inexpensive one but, for various reasons, ended up buying it almost sight-unseen...and now I see why...

There are at least a couple of teeth that are, well, less than straight:

I have no idea if it would be possible to get them straightened when/if I had the razor replated (I've heard it's really hard to do with quite a risk of breaking things) - but I'm tempted to see if it can be done....

    I do love the handle:

But, as 'disappointing' as that razor head might have been...that feeling quickly faded away when I opened the second package and found....

    The Beauty
A beautiful, near-mint Weber razor w/ PH and Wave handle.

This brings my collection of 'contemporary stainless steel safety razors' to this little lot:
