So today I was shopping with my wife and we went to a couple of antique stores. I never find anything in those places except an overpriced Old once (I passed, it's still there.) Today I notice in one of the stores, there was a gold razor I hadn't seen before. It was a Star DE razor. I bought it for $5. We went to another store and were just leaving when my wife pointed out a Slim adjustable. Expecting it to be overpriced as usual, I picked it up and looked at the tag. $2.50. So yeah, I got that one too. The Star has some plate loss, but is in fine condition. The Slim is in nearly mint condition with no plate loss and all of the paint in tact. I am pretty pleased with the haul. Edit: now with a photo
WOW what an awesome score....I'm jealous. ics: I guess the last sign doesn't count. Great pictures congrats.
The Wife and I decided to have a night out so we took the girls to Dollar General (yeah, I know). Picked up some Classic Splash Brut knockoff; noticed they're not carrying the O.S. knockoff anymore; did not see any Dorco carts (blades, yes); found but didn't buy a possible replacement for the African Soap shave cream BUT... ...best of all... I glanced at the Hostess rack and, rubbing my eyes in shock, found boxes of Chocodiles. The last time I saw these was in Hostess' prior incarnation, some years back when Chocodiles were available only on the west coast. My sister in law in Phoenix sent me some as a gift, and now...here they are, for $3 a box. My low carb diet has some lenience, and this is one of them. The Wife heartily approved. The girls know nothing of them, for I hid the box behind my back. They can have something else, the Chocodiles are mine.
I'm posting this Sept 1st but bought everything this past weekend so technically it's part of my August haul. Hit a few antique stores along with a visit to Maggard Razors and picked up a couple nice items: A couple of pucks of Colgate soap for $4 each A working Stahly Live Blade razor for $15 A pack of Don Juan DE blades free A Gillette Slim for $10 An Antoni Tadross 429 1/2 straight razor for $10 A late 02 (1964-78) American Glass Old Spice shave mug for $5 An early 01 (1938-41) Hull Pottery Old Spice shave mug for $15 (with a very sad brush) I gave the Slim it's first bath and noted the base plate seems to tilt slightly so that needs to be addressed. I've already got a couple of the newer Old Spice mugs so Adonis gets this one. The early 01 Old Spice mug is now the oldest one I have and it's the very first series that was made and it's in excellent condition so I'm very pleased with that acquisition. The Stahly razor was advertised as being battery operated so I got a chuckle out of that.
