A Trac II Razor which the seller claims is real horn but it feels like resin to me. However, I bought it since I like Trac IIs and I have an Atra in the same pattern from the same seller. As seen here: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sos-august-11-2014-august-17-2014.39701/#post-706795
Sometimes it can be difficult to recognize horn depending on how the material has been worked. Often times there a natural imperfections the eye can detect, but turned work can make this problematic. Looks nice, whatever material it is.
I just grabbed a fat boy from an antique shop. When I came home, I did a complete cleaning with bleach bath, vinegar bath and antiseptic bath. Polished it with a toothbrush with toothpaste and here are the before/after photos of my new haul. Before Cleaning: After Cleaning:
Just gave in to a random desire to add to the den: a Wee Scot and a bottle of Floid Blue from WCS. I've been holding steady for a while, but with the recent acquisition of a Futur the bug has bitten again. I've been using a Chubby 2 and a Case pretty regularly for a while now, and from time to time I really appreciate the laser-like precision qualities of the Case, so I decided that the 'Scot was a low-cost option to scratch the itch. In other news I've been using Trumper's Coconut and TOBS Grapefruit quite happily at home, and Speick in a tube (with the Case/travel tube) while I've been on the road with great results. My next move is trying Feather blades with the Futur on 4. My "vintage" Black Beauty, Fatboy, and gold Balltip are headed for pasture, in a display case kind of display thing SWMBO has given her blessings to for the upstairs bathroom, along with a few other items still on the list. Happy shaving!
It is my 40th birthday today and was lucky enough to get all of this and a gem open comb. The pile is great. The eucris and clubman smell great. The adjustablenis a birth year razor can't wait to try it.
