The Haul - August 2016

I got the Merkur Futur today, I guess no need to post a picture as everybody is familiar with the thing.
I already shaved with it (4 days stuble) using a new Wilkinson blade, on number 6 as I like aggressive and I really liked it although it's rather fiddly doing under the nose. The head is a rather thick one. I cut myself in a few places but I put this down to the learning curve. I think I'll stick to setting 5 for my next shave.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully be receiving the R41 and may god have mercy on me.

 

It took several weeks to arrive from Belgium, but my new coticule arrived.

How does it shave ?

 

Keep the cap of the r41 in contact with the skin throughout each stroke. You'll be fine.

 

Pretty rock! Pure finisher?

 

Yes...although some use them as pre-finishers.

 

Not bad, but it wakes everyone up when I use it in the morning.

Today I took delivery of the killer R41 and the Merkur 34C HD. Although I'll not need a shave for a couple of more days as the last massacre was performed with the newly arrived Merkyr Futuer on 6 and I still feel sore. I put a new Wilkinson blade in each of them and tried how they catch the hair on my cheek. They both seem smooth to the touch and not as aggressive as the Futur but I'll be testing them both in a couple of days. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for the one who is about to die from bleeding.

The Wickham is the Russian Leather version and oh my it is just spot on, on the Imperial Leather that it matches the scent from.

I have test-lathered them all, and all lather up very easily and explosive. Seems like great UK artisan soaps!

 

Received two excellent - and exciting - products in the mail this week;

1) The new 'milder' base plate from Timelessrazor (0.68 mm) in a scalloped safety bar model


2) The new, soon-to-be-released Wickham 1912 Bath Soap

 

Wickham's new 1912 line of soap is simply stellar.
I got the Russian Leather and Cashmere ones and they are equally pleasant.
