Well not really my Haul ... My son's wife is enjoying his Edwin Jagger Kelvin and he wanted her to have her own razor. So I offered my birth date and quarter Lady Gillette. I wanted it in tip top condition for her so sent it to Captain Murphy for an overhaul. When he finished it he forwarded it on to her; I hope she enjoys it. My son will get her a long handle blue Edwin Jagger for Christmas.
Today I got a lot from the world of Flea Bay. From top to bottom, Valet Autostrop, GEM 1912, and a GEM Flying Wing/Bullet Tip Micromatic. Next I got a 1900 Superior Safety Razor. I blame this one on @Bird Lives and @wchnu over at TOST. Though this is the one I am most looking forward to using. The handle has the same size threads as my Damaskeene. I stopped by my local drug store and picked up a couple of Van Der Hagen Boar brushes for PIF's at work. And 2 pucks of William's Soap. I know there is only 1 in the picture but 1 made a better photo.
Those are great starter brushes. Especially with the built in delayed effect Enablers timer that makes the bristles fall out. Then it's time to shop another brush, or learn to install replacement knots.
I've used them in four razors, for both beard and head shaves, and like them just fine. No tugging, no weepers, sharp enough to get me where I need to go. Perfectly happy with them. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I wondered who got it. I went back and forth about putting in a bid on it. I have one in nice shape but not as ornate as this one. I just did not want to end up with another duplicate razor like I did with the Focus Dynamic razor. I'm thinking about thinning the herd now.
Hey that's great to know. I think that I might end up with a razor or two that I could use them in. It's nice to know you can find blades that don't cost so much. Ron
An understatement in this case. I'll leave it to others to test the blade's longevity however, cat $.04/blade I'm three and done. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I'm not knocking the VDH gear (except for the Ice Tempered blades). I have used both Deluxe soap in the blue & green bowl, and Luxury soap in the big black mug recently. I've got a couple VDH/ Weishi/ MicroTouchOne DE's that shave as well as a Flare Tip. I enjoyed my VDH boar brush until I picked up a couple Omegas. Then the VDH sat for a long while. During it's last couple lathers it dropped a dozen or more bristles each time. I did pass it to a newbie with the news that he's be shopping for another soon. For getting someone going it's low cost/high performance. If the handle was more impressive I might have kept it for reknotting.
Thanks man! If I can be partly responsible for influencing you to cop such a great Classic...That makes my day...!
Itis my first slant. So far iz beutiful. For couple months I intend to buy ATT S1 slant so then I can tell you my complete opinnion. Now I am more than satisfied
