I guess I'll see over the next few days. It is pretty chunky . It does feel better built than the Merkur. The adjustment is smoooooooth. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Hey, I love my Progress (70s vintage). I'm Fatboy free and livin' proud. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I can't speak for vintage Merkur, they may be good. I bought a current production razor a few years ago and the QC was terrible. I was appalled to say the least.
I also had bad experience with a Hoffritz slant and a newer 34C. My Progress is solid though. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I don't have this product in Australia which is very rare to see what's available on the Australia market.
I think I need an intervention too. Did not really plan to buy razors today but these old straights called me A bakelite tech that appears to be a Franken razor, a Schick Injector it the box (guess I finally get to try one), a 40s SS, a project Wade & Butcher and a Joseph Elliot Silver Steel. All told I think I spent 30 bucks. Both straights are projects I know but I believe the Joseph Elliot is in the neighborhood of 170 years plus. I think I did ok but trying to be responsible at the same unfortunately I love the look of the big old blade straights. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
That tech isn't Bakelite or a frankenrazor. It's a black contract tech. Most likely a WW2 soldier issued tech. Its black so it wouldn't reflect any light.
There was also this one which is bakelite: The handle is different than the "Contract Tech" handle on @Stu929's razor, but I wouldn't automatically rule out that his didn't come that way given that Gillette was probably throwing together sets with whatever they had on hand.
