The base is plastic. Only markings are Gillette and made in USA and it as 2 and a 5 marked on the bottom. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I thought it was a mix of contract and the GI or bakelite tech given the base is definitely plastic. But as you mentioned gillette did a lot of that. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
That's a very cool set! I hate to admit this I have only one "razor set" it's a travel tech. I really need to change my focus and go for these cool ones
You have a frankenrazor Here are mine. The left has a plastic handle and metal cap and baseplate similar to prewar tech. The right has plastic handle and plastic base plate with metal cap. The cap no longer has the black paint .
The one thing I wanted more than anything I didnt get. A lady had 2 Gillette display cases but wanted 95 for each. She also had a beat rubberset that had a see through orange base that would have been beautiful restored but wouldn't negotiate on price at all. Also saw a silver Schick repeater? In the leather case but I wasnt sure about 22. Didnt seem bad but In not a Schick guy. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
No sir. I took both on a trip and they shaved different. It was noticeable to me. I like both of them. Both are techs and mild but one was more aggressive. I think the plastic base one was the aggressive one if I remember correctly.
That's what I'm looking for, different shave, my Canadian Tech shaves different than my USA. Thanks for the info.
I had one I found on a box of junk (the plastic style), but after much cleaning it tuned out to be a nice Tech. I found it slightly more aggressive than a pre war tech, but very nice.
I guess in general, I am very interested in the black Tech, I have 3-4 Tech's, do I need another? Maybe. I've never been into getting a cased razor until really just now.
I have several techs: Gold tech fat handle Nickel prewar fat handle Gold ball end Nos travel Black ww2 triangle Black ww2 plastic base WW2 Canadian fat handle triangle base plate Canadian thin handle English flat bottom fat handle.
Went to an antique fair today and found a few things plus I received something in the mail that I picked up on EBay. From the antique fair. A glass Veg bottle for $4, some OS talc for $5, and a nice EverReady for $9.50. The vendor that had the razor had about a dozen nice SE's, most in boxes, all for $9.50 each but I already have everything he had. Actually I've got one just like the one I got; just not in as nice of condition and I didn't have the box. And then from EBay, a NOS OS Morning Refresher set (A/S, coffee mug, shave cream) for $20 delivered.
