I wanted to buy Corinne a Witchy Woman bath soap and she said she prefers the bath oils she bathes in. The scent from what I understand is so nice!
Whitchy women is great. Sunflower fields and almost heaven are also very nice. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
As this is the last day of August, here is what has come from USPS since Monday: From Maggard's Stirling Electric Sheep after @Bama Samurai review and saying how good it was I had to try it. A Maggard's 22mm Synthetic Knot for my lonely handle a tuck of Rapira & Voskhod DE blades Feather SE Stainless blades for a Valet Razor From the Bay Feather CS SE blades Then today from a shaver up north and across the street at TOST some Enders blades. The brush and soap are up for tomorrow mornings shave. Then I have one of the Stainless blades already in the Valet for Sundays shave.
So, last week, I put in a low bid on a somewhat forlorn looking Schick J1 Injector. It arrived yesterday and this is it after some cleanup: It appears to be an early version (a J(55)?) as it has the smaller head with greater blade exposure and is marked "Pat. Pending". It's apparently newer than my other J1, though, as it is marked as a "Schick Safety Razor" rather than as "Eversharp Schick". I don't think it had been used in quite a while since, besides the overall grime, it came with a non-Hydro-Magic blade installed. (One of the original blades, perhaps?) The only slightly disappointing part is that the handle is somewhat more yellowed than my other J1. I assume this is from aging/UV, correct? I'll take it for a spin in a day or two, depending on how it goes with my MMOC. I'm not sure if I'll ultimately keep it or trade/PIF it for one I don't have.
Great looking razor! I tried two Eversharp injectors twice and two of the worse shaves. I really wanted to like them, but it felt like shaving with a dull Bic disposable. Just not for me.
My J also has the same type head as the early I(55). Maybe leftover parts? I've never tried it, but would bleach on the handle make it whiter?
I don't know, honestly. There is a technique that is popular in the Vintage Computing circles to whiten yellowed ABS plastics such as computer cases. It's called Retr0bright and involves the use of Hydrogen Peroxide and exposure to heat or UV light. The only time I've heard of it being used on a razor, though, was on a Gillette Slim Twist.
I'll have to look into it. I'm trying to use a link from Google Photos, so maybe I need to set a permission.
