Well alright. If you are new to Stahly give your self time to adjust, like all mild razors to performs best within a narrow window of proper angle and requires pressure, but when properly attended to the Stahly yields uncommon results in my experience. What series is indicated on the plate (A,B,C...)?

How do these Stahly razors shave, you see them in collections but do they shave well? Odd looking razor yet they make thousands!

I’ve yet to shave with it since I just got it in the mail this afternoon but I have read that they are very mild and efficient shavers.

It’s has been a few years since my last brush restros, time to try again. Two Oumo SHD 2 band Fan knot at 24 and 26mm. Out of the box and they seem to have good density, nice backbone with soft tips. Now to find the time

Right now it's among my favorites. I just wound up two months with my Stahly as daily driver. Way more efficient than you'd expect given how mild it feels. I have to stress that if you're used to aggressive razors it will take time and care to adjust to get the most from the Stahly. I typically use an ATT handle with mine. The Stahly was in production for three decades from its 1941 introduction.

Later production, 60s? I'm trying to match series to cases then to ads to figure out production dates.

Where do I find this mark? "Plate" - base plate?
Same question! Mine came in a clear plastic stand up case with a black base & red stripe. It's all chrome, no gold colored metal. I did find it in an advertisement, but didn't note the date when it was published or where.

The mark is on the underside of the baseplate.

The stand-up plastic case with the red was used in the earliest versions of the Stahly, 1941- > not sure, like my silver Series A. I'm going through newspaper ads to figure out case dates

Waiting for this Schick E with a broken handle. This should be a good candidate for a travel razor in a tin with a new handle..............
EDIT: Oh crap, wrong thread. I'll put one where it belongs.

Thank you Jeff! That's already more info than I had found.

D98E21C2-7346-4644-8E9D-BF105D879DB0.jpeg Found in the wild today an Art Of Shaving lavender shave soap with wooden bowl that cost me $14 and change after sales tax at my local Burlington store. Normally this soap plus the wooden bowl would cost fifty bucks before taxes; so this was an awesome score for me today at 14 bucks.
