Ah hah! Yeah Don, we've heard that song and dance before. At least until the next whale comes along.

 

I put some on last night, wow! I have a working bottle of Dickinsons 1/4 left, and one full bottle. Once I'm done with the opened bottle I'll be a Thayers WH user going forward. Great stuff!

 

Glad you like it. Its all I use. The lavender is nice too.

 

Got a new razor!

1909 Gillette Old type





It's not the most beautiful example I've seen, it has some plate loss on the knob but it's good and will shave great. It may be replated at some point. I got a great deal on it though, 15 bucks shipped.

 

That one looks a LOT better than my two single rings.

I haven't cleaned them up yet...but seeing yours I'm a bit jealous

I think the straight teeth and shiny top cap make up for a little plate loss on the handle any day. Nice score youngunn.

 

Thanks, mine was black looking just like that. I used 1 cup boiling water, 1 Tbsp baking soda, 1 Tbsp sea salt, aluminium foil and once soaking, 1/2 cup of white vinegar SLOWLY to get things moving. Then scrubby with some polish. Get on it! Lol

Two VAN Improved Stroppers type B. The wrappers belonging to them are brittle and arrived in shreds, but I could still read it with some effort:

Don't throw your good Safety Razor blades away: in all razors made you will find some that will hold their edge better than others. Save the blades that hold their edge, sharpen them with a Van Stropper and enjoy good shave. The Van Stropper is made in 3 styles: A takes Gillette, Durham, Duplex and Anticor; B takes Ever ready, USR, Gem Junior; C takes Federal, Ender and others.​

Both stroppers are in mint state and hold the Gem blades well and tight.



The stroppers consist of a handle and two blade holders which you can slide in and out of the handle. When the holders are slid out, the SE blade can be put between the holders.



The back of the SE blades fits snug in the rectangular opening of the holders.



When the holders are slid back in, they tighten around the blade. When the back of the handle sits on the hone, the edge of the blade should be at its correct angle. So from here it's just like honing and stropping a straight razor. On could even consider shaving with it, just like with a straight. Hm. Not today...

3 of shannons soaps came in today

Silk pajamas. A unique scent. Powdery. Kind of like clean linens.

Falling leaves. To me its a mix of pine and cedar. Kind of like fresh shavings

Lavender ylang ylang. A pretty spicy lavender scent. Pretty strong scent.

 

My enterprising friend made this PSO, has olive and castor oils, and patchouli and sandalwood EOs

Gonna use it next shave. There's a ton of it in there should last until summer of next year lol
