I haven't ever seen a nickel or chrome version, was it replated ?

Really? That's all I see on eBay. I've never seen a gold or Bakelite handle version until this past week

I think the gold are the most common. The Bakelite were only offered for a year or so, 45-46 so seem to show up less frequently. I'm sure this is original, hone is in great (but definitely used) shape.

Going on ebay is too tempting. In order to keep my NB17 status I've been staying away.

Bargains can be had (I did well on Etsy) but market has moved on these, $68 ffor the last Bakelite, $152 for a recent cased goldie.

I thought these were useless without their proprietary blades

You may be thinking of another razor, the shake sharp takes standard DE blades

You are thinking of the earlier De Haven shake sharp (four models, 1930-34ish) . Those do use proprietary blades. Completely different animal.

This Wade And Butcher came today. Overall nice shape, some wear but not hammered. A good sized blade measuring just shy of 7/8 and the spine is a 1/4" thick. I believe that the scales are horn.

Lady stated she bought it for her husband . He hated it said it smelled like perfume not cologne. AOS wouldn't take it back without the original box in new condition

It gets interesting reviews. I've sniffed it once quickly but can't remember my impression (which probably didn't matter since I probably couldn't afford it).
I'll be curious to hear what you think after wearing it a few times.

It lingers for a long time. It's been a 4 hours and I sprayed once from 2 to 3 feet.

That's way more than my nose can pick up. I don't have that kind of distinction. It either smells nice or doesn't..lol
