Toothpaste is really good for cleaning razors, as is ketchup.

Thanks, I wanted something timeless and metal. Kind of ties into my vintage metal razor fetish. Maybe even a little steampunk.

It's definitely industrial revolution steampunk in a very shiny chrome way. :)

This was waiting when I got home! The bottom fabric is shot. I'm going to have to put new felt.

A 18mm finest 2 band fan knot and a 22mm boar from TGN arrived today as well. Both will soon be fitted into soon to be restored vintage handles.

John Beeman Little chicken in hot water

Extra day this month to add stuff.

First up is a 4 oz glass bottle of hair tonic. The top was secure and the little cork thingy inside the top was stuck to the top of the bottle so I think it sealed the product nicely because when I popped it open I was pleasantly surprised that it still smells good. I stood it next to my 8 oz glass bottle in case anybody knows how old either of these is. I picked up the 8 oz bottle (empty) sometime in the last two years and filled it partly with some new tonic. Interesting to note the color difference between the old and the new, the new being much darker.

Next up is a tiny little Old Spice bottle with a tiny little soap-on-a-rope. I photographed it with a 4.25 oz bottle and a 2.5 oz bottle for scale.

And finally, a little bottle of 4711 edc which at 20 ml looks a bit small next to my 4711 A/S. I've had the A/S for quite awhile and just the other day had the opportunity to pick up the edc.

Gave me a little heart attack there with those Eau de Quinenes ;) For a second I thought one of them was the shampoo one :)

I wouldn't mind finding a NOS bottle of vintage elixir shampoo.

I spent 6 bucks on the little 4 oz tonic today so I'd probably go as high as 10 or 12 for the shampoo. ;)

A NOS shampoo could buy you a couple of NOS toggles :)

Three straights came home today after getting a little attention. I already had them, but they weren't quite ready to go, and I haven't had time to work on them.

The Genco had cell rot starting in the pivot in its celluloid scales, so it got custom Bolivian Rosewood scales. The black scales are an ACME from F. Westpfal, NY. It was just there for a honing. The gold scales are a Union Cutlery Co Gold Coin. Unfortunately, most of the gold is gone from the tang. The work was done by Bryan at Mathis Restorations. There is still some oil on the blades, they are shiner than the picture. I traded some leatherwork for some of the work, but the prices were good and he is fast! I wish my whiskers grew faster, because I want to shave tomorrow.
