I don't know. I want to use the krona, but it IS NOS. Torn I am.

 

It is nice, I'd go for another Krona. They can be had for good prices.

 

Use it. What are you going to save it for, the tricentennial?

 

I would, but that's a lot of electrons to pick up and carry to the other thread. Now that discussion about that really cool vintage set has started I hate to disturb it. What with Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle being in effect can we really know both the position and velocity of your post?

Yeah what he said. Krona razors are dime a dozen right now and are cheap enough. No need to potentially devalue that set for a shave that is easily obtainable elsewhere.

3pc tech arrived after cleanup. I would say it dates to 45 post war maybe someone early to mid 46 assuming this is not pieced together from parts and is original. Reason for that is they never far as I know made the contract tech handles in gold for military razors and contract handles so the handle has to be based on that 45 - 48. The base plates for the ovular slots was at least sold if not also made post war from 45 - 47. Testing the base plate with a magnet as @John Ruschmeyer suggested shows it is not brass. The cap is brass not pot metal. The top looks rough but it is not pitted just scratched so it is still usable. Handle may also be brass, it is not magnetic.

 

So, the baseplate is not brass. I'd go with steel plated with copper and then gold washed, based on one I have. The handle is probably not brass. I have one which is stripped of any coating and it is a silver grey metal which resembles pewter more than anything else when polished.
