Well today I received a few more rolls another one is aluminum that makes it two aluminum imperials I have now and some spares also some blue blades each brick has 200 so 3000 blades anyone know how to store these so the edge doesn't degrade
How many total Rolls do you have now? I've seen you reel in a good amount of them. Are those Blue Gillette Blades comparable to any current blade? I've seen a couple members buy them.
Ha had to go count I've got 24 rolls the blue blades compare to treet blades I've heard as I haven't tryed them but I do love the blue blades there both carbon steel so you can get it sharper then stainless but for some the first pass is like hell as they pull a little bit
Cool, I tried Treet's. The first shave was good, the second one was not as good. So maybe it worked backwards for me for whatever reason...I guess My Millage Varied (MMV) I'll have to give them another shot.
no that's normal just most think the first pass is bad not the whole shave and they do degrade faster then stainless try stropping it on your forearm to realign the blade edge for the second or even third shaves
I doubt the edge will degrade any more than it already has. Store them in a humidity free environment. If you could build a dowel arrangement to slide the blades on, the best way to store them would be to dip each blade in mineral oil and stack them up. That is how Gillette stored blades before they were packaged. I bought 1,200 super blues stored in a factory container like that, and the beat the heck out of any packaged ones I've seen. You need a shake sharp razor in the worst way...just saying.
there quite heavily coated in oil already and were stored in a cedar chest thinking ill do that I've been looking for a shake sharp for the past 3 months but to no avail
Sorry about that...send me a pm with your address and I'll add you to the next shake sharp pass around. EDIT. Never mind, I'll see if I can add it to the box of' blades.
I got my Whipped Dog silver tip brush today along with my straight razor, a sample of Bald Frog Soap, some Proraso White Soap, some Personna Med Preps, and a sample of Super Max Titanium blades today! Woohoo! Edit: I could barely make it out, but I was able to decipher Wade & Butcher and possible Sheffield? Were these razors made in England? The and of the blade curves inward like a C... does it have a specific name?
January has been good to me so far. First I receive a 3 piece LadySea scuttle: and today I received a pair of UFO handles: The one on top is a Brass Tornado the one on the bottom is a Stainless Kaiser Short.
Where did you purchase that beauty from and what kind of price range am I looking at? So the stopper comes off and allows you to put hot water in?
http://www.georgetownpottery.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=GTP&Category_Code=Shaving I love it. Though realized that it's pointless to use the scuttle, or fill the scuttle when using menthol creams haha. The workmanship is fantastic, couldn't be happier with it. Here's a view of it cut in half.
So handling a straight for the first time in the travel box convinced me I needed a straight. My first straight, a Dubl Duck Special No. 1. I'm sure there will be mire to follow.
Jim, you might want to be sure to get with Glen for some good advice on how to get that back into tip top shape!
Actually, the effect of the heat and the menthol will surprise you with a double whammy of refreshment in morning your wake-up. I have used Godrej Mist in mine many a time. Good combo!
. I will, I have to take some pics with my real camera and send him the link. I have an uncle that is in his 70s that has been using a straight his whole life. I am going to have to visit him for some hands on tips for stropping. Maybe see if could hone it for me if it needs it too.
