I forgot to mention that I received: 3x Egyptian Ingram Blue sc tubes from a friend of mine who was visiting his family in Cairo. 2x Egyptian Palmolive Classic sc tubes from him as well!
First haul of the year, but ordered in Dec. A 3" Chestnut English Bridle Leather Stropping Board and Arko shave stick. Also a nice unexpected Christmas card from the vendor. I'll be using the strop right away, but am going to hold off on the Arko till next week. I don't want to introduce anything new while I'm learning the straight.
Thorsten, I went into work this morning and found the packages I've been waiting for sitting on my desk. I am not certain at all what exactly the USPS has been doing with my packages, but all were post-marked December 17! I'm just glad they finally arrived! Photos of contents to come…..
WOW that look great, I cant wait to get mine now, stunning, I like my mild razors when Im working in jobs that require me to shave everyday, I do use the more aggressive ones ie Red tip ss and FB on 7 evry so often.
I'm excited to finally get my hands on the 'newer' version ('2013') of the Mühle R41. I really enjoy using the 2011 model of this razor, so it will be interesting to do some comparison shaves to see how this 'newer & gentler' model compares to it's notorious older sibling. I also picked up the seemingly hard-to-get razor stand by Mühle. The stand is beautifully finished (as are the razors) and it is surprisingly heavy. Both Mühle R41 models: the 2013 version has a slightly larger head with a considerably larger cap. The newer design reduces the blade edge exposure and supposedly minimizes blade flex—one of the causes of R41 'bite.' Also got my hands on a Torrey straight razor. Price was too good to pass up, and although it has a definite 'smile' I do look forward to giving it a 'go' this week.
I got my Birth Year 1950 40's Style Super Speed today! $15.00-There are still deals to be had.............
I really like that razor stand, but have a question about it. Unless you take the razor apart and dry it after your shave, wouldn't water pool inside the cap with the razor hanging upside down like that?
I suppose there is the real possibility of what you describe occurring as the razor hangs there. Since I always remove the blade, rinse & dry my razors post-shave, I never considered this a potential problem. I DO like the minimal footprint of the stand, the sturdiness and the ease of access.
I can't wait for your review of the Muhle R41 (2013). As I've stated many times, it's my favorite (daily) razor. That stand is sweet! Great point! I take my razor apart and completely clean it. A change from my past rinse and reuse.
I love the design of the stand and think it looks great. I'm just lazy, I guess, because I like to shake the water off my razor, wipe it dry, and hand it up. I don't take it apart, but I know that I really should.
That Mühle stand is really lovely. I've seen it many times in the different shops over here, but the price has always put me off. I might have to reconsider that now
Well it just so happened that just as mysteriously 12 euro's found their way right out of my wallet and onto the counter.
I've really got to stop clicking the increase maximum bid button on ebay.... I just won this George Wostenholm & Son 11/16 Celebrated I.XL
