Yesterday I received a wonderful assortment of soaps from a PIF giving by Ryan B. Many thanks to him! The packaged included samples of the following soaps:

    Arko
    Stirling Orange Chill
Mike's Natural Lily of the Valley
    Lea
    Valobra
    Mike's Natural Peppermint & Rosemary

I will be reviewing each one of these and posting the reviews in the Soap section as I try them.

    Many thanks to Ryan!

Took a lunch break earlier this week and found a few treasures. The first was a PAL Adjustable at an antique store I've been to before but didn't find anything on my last visit. The other items I found at an antique store just up the street that I never realized was there before and didn't have time to go through the entire store but came out with 4 razors. There were a few more I looked at but the prices were too high compared to the ones I got. Anyhow, those are still getting cleaned up (they were pretty grungy) but the PAL was in great shape and cleaned up with just a quick bath in scrubbing bubbles. The only thing I screwed up was I tried to separate the lid from the base and broke one of the hinges so I need to get it epoxied.

I love the Pal. That one sure is a beauty. My father gave me one to "shave" with when I was a little kid. I'm going to get me one of those one day.

9 bucks (plus tax). I almost stumbled on my way to the cashier.

I was all over the internet last night trying to find something out about them and didn't come up with much. No way to really be accurate dating the razor and apparently there were some QC problems so I'm anxious to shave with it and see if I got a good one or not. Even if it doesn't shave good it's way cool to look at.

I've heard about the QC problems, too, but for $9 you can't go wrong.

I found what has been a hen's tooth for me; a Segal blade.

My dad picked up a Segal razor for me a while ago, but I have not been able to find any blades for it. I saw the box in a case at a local antique mall; unfortunately it only had 1 in it, and it's a little rusty so I won't be shaving with it.

The Segal TTO mechanism is a neat idea, but it doesn't seem like many of the proprietary blade type razors were long lived.

I also added a razor blade shelf to my den today.

The shelf is actually a bamboo silverware tray, but it works great for blades.

Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

    Today's haul, uncleaned.[IMG]

Any ideas on the third razor? Gillette head but, is it a Gillette handle?

It doesn't look like any Gillette handle that I've ever seen.

I didn't think so either but, figured someone might know for sure.

Third in bottom row? Isn't it a black beauty w/ the longer handle?
And if so, since the bottom of the base plate isn't black plastic it would date it to before 1981 I believe.
