Nice Rolls! It looks like it's in really good shape. Usually the ones I see have a cracked and/or chipped stone and the strop is worn. Looks like you got a good one.
I got the LEA Sensitive Cream and Rapira and Voskhod blades I ordered from Joe at Shaveabuck.com (I swear he ships product before you are finished ordering). I am going to keep a supply of either the Rapira Swedish Supersteel or the Voskhod on hand in the Den. I need to do a head to head again with them. Very close before............. The LEA cream had free shipping, so how could I not add it?!? And.....he charged me $1 less than the posted price to boot!
I was back in my home town over Christmas and saw my old Barber in the local Pizza Joint (He graduated from high school with my dad in 1956). I asked him if he had any of his Straight Razors, and regrettably he did not. He had given them all to another friend from town, who has since passed away. No idea what happened to his razors, but I might have a lead. I know the guy that lived next door, who was left the house. That's a project for another trip. Back to Erv, the Barber. I got to talking to him about straights. He asked if I collected them, and was surprised to hear that I shave with them. He still uses one to clean up around the edges, and told me that in Maine, it is still legal for a Barber to use a real straight razor. We talked about Red Imps, one of his favorites, and other Ebay finds. I mentioned Dubl Ducks, and he said he didn't like them, but really liked Temperites. Off to Ebay I went, discovering that it was another razor made in the USA by Case. This is what I ended up with. It has a bit of a frown, but came to me feeling darn near shave ready. I did have to use my hammer and anvil to tighten up the pivot pin a bit. I'll test it in the morning.
Just got a nice package in the mail from Bobcat, looking forward to putting it to the test starting February....
That lego is sweet Thorsten. I heard about it on the radio last week. It looks even better than I imagined. Congrats.
Thank you. Last weekend i had no time to begin building it,but the upcoming weekend there is much more time. I will get up very early in the morning to begin. This will be fun...
My January (for the moment) haul : Gillette Traveltech Gillette Gold Tech Gillette Contractor Ever Ready Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf Pure Badger brush for only 4,99$ because is defective (the little white point on the handle) NOS Traveltech in box Gillette Flare Tip Ever Ready
Well, I got some soaps so I need some soap containers. Figured I'd get a bigger bowl while I'm at it. Not bad for $5
Picked up 4 injectors today. Gave them a quick bath to get the grunge off but they'll need a little more attention before I shave with them. The one on the far right was pretty easy for me to figure out since it came in it's box which clearly identified it as an Eversharp Hydro-Magic. The two in the middle have identical handles but different heads. The cream/gold one is an Eversharp Schick and the black/chrome one is a Schick. The one on the far left is a Schick and has "M10" stamped on the underside of the head. I just got them today so I'll do a little research and figure out exactly what they are but all are in pretty fair condition and will eventually get shaved with.
Came in today. I bought the straight razors as a lot. Seller had them listed as "safety razor blades."
A few new bit I got Pre Christmas just not posted them in the Haul yet, so here goes. Possibly a NOS Clog Pruf as it still has the blade card and the tag, (well not anymore lol I have just used it ) Next up a Mulcuto slant. with case, missing one blade box though. Then my sweet looking Gem G-bar one fine looking razor feels so solid. A Gillette USA red tip superspeed A-2 date code which makes it 1955 I think. And last is a NOS gold plated Shakesharpe razor (well it was I have used that since I got it lol) another nice razor Oh and some SE blades not pictured
This arrived yesterday: a '66 Gillette Tech. It's a birth-year, which is bonus. But I was really intrigued by the wording on the box. Pretty cool.
