The Haul: January 2019

Belongs to a New Type now. And a very nice one at that.

 

Received some goodies today.

1. Close to NOS Diplomat. It’s beautiful !




2. A damn good price for the cream and impossible to find AOS Sandalwood Cologne


3. A disappointment for this this one. The no70 / no66 razor isn’t as described. I knew about the plating but there is physical issues too.

 

In the mail today, gold and nickel engraved blade banks with some vintage blades. Now in their correct places replacing the ones I had in them. A 1920 Pocket Edition and a 1936 Tuckaway, both cases re-lined. Now I have to find the elusive nickel New Short Comb head.

 

I got an RE ball end repro for my US Army head, too. Excellent fit.

 

Three woods: Birdseye Maple, Claro Walnut, and Bocote. Now, I need to order some warmer weather.

 

I was also watching that because of the Army razor, but alas, I forgot about it. Congrats.

The razor came in today and the plating is in great shape. I may try to repair the handle and if I do I'll post some pictures. Don't worry, the razor is in a loving home.

 

I'd look around on Ebay for a handles. You can always find sellers selling razors or parts in lots and they can be had cheaply. That's going to be a lot of working repairing a crack that's run the full length of the handle.

 

I don't know if I can. I have a short piece of thin wall aluminum tubing that may slip up into the handle and give the epoxy something to hold onto. Using hose clamps or split ring shaft clamps to pull the crack together. If that works out I will then sand the end pieces down a little and then glue the handle tube to the end. All just speculation right now.

 

Gorgeous opening E2, a few blades missing but shows as new. And a beautifully weird Senator (or Sena-ton). No idea how to explain the two tone thing going on here. Mamba 70 also arrived but y'all know what that looks like.

I’m pretty sure it’s a Sheraton. The gold has worn off the handle. I have an Aristocrat that the gold is wearing off on the head and underneath is nickel plating that is nice and shiny.

 

P.S. I have an empty case for it and for your dehaven diplomat if you are interested in homes for them.

 

You can tell by looking at the hole in the handle. If there's a straight screw it's a Sheraton. If there's a (maltese-ish) cross screw, it's a Senator.

 

For inside the handle use a Brass Toilet Bolt. Roll in Epoxy. Works great. Adds great weight and Great hold. I have fixed a few Full split Handle.
