The Haul: January 2019

Wow, I am stumped. That is not anything I have seen before. My Senator has the Maltese and the Sheraton I used to have had the flat head screw.
Did someone use epoxy?

 

Is it possible there’s some dried soap that’s in there?

 

Cleaned it up.

 

Ordered the Pinaud, because well, it's Pinaud.
The Cremo was sent as a replacement for the other tube I have that was the old formula.
Someone here sent me the lot number from their tube, but I can't remmreme who it was.
Both of these will be in the shave tomorrow!

You’ve probably got the only two-tone unscrewed Sherator razor in existence.

It appears that there is an indentation resembling the maltese screw.
I think somebody glued your razor together. If I am correct, it's a Senator.

 

Upping the contrast, I'll go with that as an explanation for the screw if not for the two tone plating.

 

Looks like a goop filled reverse phillips.

 

Catching up on a couple of things received this week.

First up is a Rotbart-branded Lucite Tech, part of a trade with another member.


Second is a somewhat unusual English Flat Bottom Tech:

This one is unusual in that it has a full-width slot and a corresponding cap. Moreover, there is a depression in the bottom of the baseplate and notches in the cap bar, both of which correspond to the end of the handle.

Overall, the plating is pretty rough, both literally and figuratively, the the razor appears to be usable. Expect a shave report sometime next week.

is there any plating on the inner edges of the slots near the center hole?

 

Got this MMOC in today. It is in very nice condition. It's going to be a great shaver. Pictures are after I cleaned it and ran the razor through my sonic cleaner.

 

Yes, though the cut seems a touch off. I would venture that the slots were cut through at the factory after initial manufacture but before plating.
